Because I'm law abiding 😌.........

Bit of a topsy turvy photo but here are my new shoes and below the reason they were needed (you can just see the hole in the top of the Asics) and the fact that my feet seem to seize up a while after finishing my longer runs meant they were just about shot.

The On Cloudflyers were my Christmas present. I've done a couple of 8k road runs in them and they are lovely. Today I bought some Brooks Glycerine 15s as I need some cushioning for longer runs. Depending on the weather I will be doing 12k in them tomorrow. But if it is rubbish, the old ones will be taking me for a short trot over the trails as it would break my heart to get them trashed first time out.

Lovely new shoes! I think your old ones look like they need a well deserved retirement after many happy miles together.

Thank you. You're right, time they were pensioned off. Probably a final trail run for the New Balance tomorrow.

Ooh they are lush! An honourable discharge is due to your old shoes I reckon - and I wish you many happy miles in your lovely new ones.

Thanks. Hoping for a bit of the cloud feel which has been very lacking lately.

Wow..I love the old and new pikkies.. the new ones saying to the old... " We want to be just like you when we grow up :) "

AnnieW55 profile image
AnnieW55

I can see that but probably more like the old ones saying "be afraid. You have no idea how much mud, varying types of animal muck, brambles and nettles we've been through!" πŸ˜‚

It grieves me to give up my shoes. MIne usually reign long after retirement as dog walking or allotment shoes.

Nothing like a pair of new daps for putting a spring in one's step. Have fun in them ! They are extremely beautiful. I'm quite envious.

Speaking of shoes, my newish Pegasus were letting wet in big style today. I know it was raining but it felt like it was getting in from below. I wonder if i've gone through the soles.

Yes there's another life waiting for them in the garden or, if I can get them cleanish, for wandering around in. Nothing too heavy for them as my feet seizing up after a long run was not fun. Looked like I was a very old lady walking across very stoney ground.

Just looked at the Pegasus - pretty. Write up says excellent breathability- translate to wet feet? Or have you done what I have before and managed to stand on something that went through the soles?

Nice new shoes! I hope you have many happy runs in them :) I cannot bear to get rid of any of my old shoes and still have my original Brooks that I started in nearly 6 years ago :D

Thanks Annie. I went to Run Forest for the Ons after your visit and misswobble s. Enjoyed the experience and will go back but felt I needed a wider choice for this pair and went to the Derby Runner.

Oooh, what cake did they have in? Oops, sorry, that is not of course my first question :D

πŸ˜„ it was at Christmas so can't quite remember, think it was something chocolatey but I only had a coffee as the Christmas fair was on and had to investigate that too - and watch the time due to parking payment!

Have to say the gait analysis at Run Forest is by far the best I've had.

Anniemurph profile image
AnniemurphGraduate10 in reply to AnnieW55

I was amazed by just how thorough the GA was there - definitely the best I've ever had too. And the cake... :)

I’m going there too! At some point. I want to sample their cake.

I need new road shoes as the Pegasus are done in! I have them out. The soles are shot! I have asked my son to take me to Derby Runner for some new Saucony’s.

Or Nike’s πŸ˜€

Anniemurph profile image
AnniemurphGraduate10 in reply to misswobble

I wasn't that keen on Derby Runner but I hope you have a good experience there. BUT NO CAKE!!!

misswobble profile image
misswobbleGraduate10 in reply to Anniemurph

I got my Saucony peregrines on sale at the Spire 10. They take lots of shoes to their events They had loads at my last race of theirs but none my size. I think they are a Saucony main dealer. I don’t know if Saucony don’t supply their gait analysis stuff.

Looking for a bargain as per If I could get a kinvara 5 I’d be in heaven. Got one decent pair left. my current ones are trashed. I am thinking of washing em before Satdy 😁 I am racing in them although they’re not trail shoes, they’re just my faves, beat up or not 😁

AnniemurphGraduate10 in reply to misswobble

You shouldn't need trail shoes though, I would have thought the surface will be like Tissington - easy enough to do in road shoes. Hope to see you there :)

Got my race number! πŸ˜€. Yeah I read it’s pretty good going hence the Saucony road shoes. The turnaround point is at Miller’s Dale apparently, is there a visitor centre or car park there etc. OH says once I’ve set off he’s heading into town for breakfast 🍳

Have to agree with Anniemurph , misswobble . The GA at Run was so in depth (didn't get to sample the cake) but there weren't many makes to choose from. The On Cloudflyers are excellent though. The GA at Derby runner consisted of me standing on one leg alternately. To be fair I only need neutral shoes and did ask for cushioning and the Brooks I ended up with are brilliant. I did a lot of running on the treadmill to test out several models but was rather left to my own devices. Perhaps I gave an air of experience πŸ˜‚

I had some Brooks glycerine but I didn’t get on with them. My brooks Cascadia though were my all time fave trail shoes but the later versions just got ridiculously narrower in the toe box 🀨. I ended up with the mizuno Hyate 3 I wore them up in Morecambe a few weeks back. They might be ok for Monsal but I’ve never run that far in them so daren't risk it. The Saucony trail ones are heavier so it’s the good old beat up kinvara’s

Thank you RFC. We had work done at home at the end of last year which resulted in a move out for us and a clear-out/hiring storage and then sorting again of belongings before storage time was up. We both had to be "brave" when it came to what went back in as we were straining at the seams (too many hobbies and essentials tucked into every cranny) and so sorted each other's "treasures" with a veto on choices but the cull was still brutal with only the shoes I run in preserved. Time to build up again......

Derby runner take their show on the road! They fund many local events round us and always take a selection of sale items to races. I got my Saucony peregrine after the Spire Ten I had a really good rummage after the Boza 10 too.

My latest Pegasus are sale ones H20 Resist it says on em

Thanks Carolyn. Have to admit to still doing some short runs in the old ones but both pairs of the new ones are doing a great job over the longer distances. In fact the Brooks are giving me the running on pillows feeling for the fi st time ever.
