New shoes needed? What do you think?

I live my Vibrams and use them most of the time. But Anniemurph posted a lovely picture of her new 5-finger wonders recently and it seemed to me that mine are looking a tad shabby in comparison. So I've done a before and after collage. And I reckon I was right. But they're still going strong, do I REALLY need new ones after "only" 430k?

I don't think so. They've got life left in em, unless of course you'd like a fresh pair to give you some rotation so you wear em out more evenly

Those orange uns of Murphs are rather snazzy aren't they. Shiny thing alert!

Just the answer I need! Thanks. Runkeeper has told me that Vibrams need replacing after 400k, but Garmin has given me another 250k at least. So maybe Runkeeper (owned by Asics) are not exactly being objective! They're not particularly worn - they're tough little things!

Also you can go by the state of em. My Brooks Cascadias did bloody miles! Loved them shoes. Sob

Can’t help with that but—

They have little toe nails! 😮

Oooh, yours are tougher than mine 'cos they've got toenails like Maddee_6333 said :D I guess they're more protective when you're out and about. I suppose there's no padding to go in these, so as long as they aren't split anywhere they will just keep going. No, no, what am I saying - of course you need new shoes! :D

You're right about the toenails. They stop my tender little tootsies from being stubbed when I wack them against a rock. And there is no padding to rip and they're not split. So I save myself a few pennies (for a couple of months anyway!).

Yes, butbutbut - there's no harm in just keeping an eye open, just in case there are sales on, or offers, or some such :D

Aw, Oldfloss , what's up? Are you still on the IC? I tend to disappear from the forum when I'm not running and haven't been as active recently, so I'm not up to date on everyone. I had noticed you're not posting much. But you're still encouraging everyone and are so important to us all. I hope you cheer up soon - spring is on it's way.

Floss - wish I could pop round with a bottle of Brandy, a pack of liqourice twists and a DVD of "The 10th Kingdom" so we could have an uplifting evening.

Hang in there, you are always so supportive to others and friendly to all, but now you need to be good to yourself also. Pamper yourself and remember that whatever is hitting you now will pass. Nothing stays the same ever, so it won't always be like this. Very best wishes to you my long time and valued Running friend :)

I am sorry you are feeling a little blue - yet you still find the resources to be so encouraging and inspiring to others. Sending you a big virtual hug ((()))
