My legs are still a knotted mess from my 5k trail race 2 weeks ago so I started back with my medieval torture devices - foam rolling and r8 roller massager - this week π«. I've been consolidating my 5k runs but have been limited to pounding the pavement in town. I've changed up by routine to run along one of the paved walking paths so although it is pretty, it isn't the same as running through the campground and on the trails as I did all glorious summer. Today I decided to drive back out to the lake, pack up some supplies from the boat, and tackle the portion of the 10k trail that the 5kers didn't get to do. I knew it was 2 km of incline so was prepared for it to be hard and not to be able to run it all but LOVED the 2 k of downhill the followed. I practiced not putting on the brakes, trying to keep by body perpendicular to the trail, and working with gravity instead of against. It was glorious to be back at the lake with the leaves changing colours. I startled up a white tailed deer and a few prairie chickens on my drive to the trail head and saw a great blue heron on my drive out. What a wonderful ending to a terrific trail run. Well worth the 30 minute drive! Here's hoping I can get out again next week although our weather is supposed to drastically change .... somebody even mentioned the 's' word βοΈπ³
Welcome back my glorious trail....how I've m... - Bridge to 10K
Welcome back my glorious trail....how I've missed you π’
That looks gorgeous. No wonder you made the effort to run there π
Wow, that looks fantastic! Fingers crossed for the weather!
Wow! I would miss that too! Beautiful, beautiful place to run - aren't trails fantastic!ππ½ββοΈπ
Yes they are π. I'd rather run on trails than pavement any day.
Wow what an amazing place to spend your summer runs! No wonder you missed it! I run in town mostly and had a chance to run up north a couple of times and loved it.
We are very fortunate to get to spend our summer living on a houseboat and commuting when I have to. Running in such a great location helped with my success with C25k, as did the amazing programme and the wonderful support found on the forum. Unfortunately ticks are a big issue In spring and early summer so I didn't go free styling into the hills until later summer. Now I'm trying to get as much in as possible. Today is a sad day though - I have to go out and finish packing and winterizing the boat. It's marks the end of summer but hopefully not my fall trail running.
Wow...just wow!!!
Gorgeous!
