Mucky trainers...

Is it OK to put my expensive but very muddy running shoes in the washing machine? Or not bother and keep them muddy, but brush off excess?? Top tips anyone please :)

Let 'em dry and then brush them off... they are the muddy scars of success! :)

I sponge tops with wet sponge and wash up liquid. Dry away from direct heat. I know some people hose down and stuff with newspaper if really bad.

Wash all that hard work off? that mud is like medals of honour if you clean your shoes it looks like you just gone out and bought them and not the hard-nosed runner you know you are.

Never, never, never, 😱 Put them anywhere near a washing machine.. ....you will make them smell and kill them......you should have got some care advice when you bought them.......but in any event be proud of that dirt and mud.

It's ok to brush off the dried mud, and, if you really, really have to, (I never have - apart from removing stubborn dirt on the soles) rinse them down with water and stuff with newspaper to help dry.

Wear them proudly, as benwill and Oldfloss says, they are medals of honour and should be admired for the work done in them.....

Excellent! Running shoes should come with a recoil mechanism, like magnets that repel each other if anyone attempts to put them near a killer washing machine.........if it hasn't got a machine wash label, its not machine washable.......simple really......😉

Oh Noooooooo- this advice came too late for me! they went into the machine for a 15 min wash last night. (hangs head in shame)

I regularly wash mine under the tap in the kitchen sink (I may use locking elastic laces but I do like them not to be encased in a solid lump of mud/peat), but I wouldn't put them in the machine (I doubt in reality it would do them much harm on the right programme in a modern machine but it wouldn't do much for my machine!)

Not in the washing machine but I do hose mine down and then stuff with newspaper if they are really muddy (especially if they are already wet anyway - I frequently run through muddy puddles in them!) .Then I stuff them with paper and leave to dry naturally. I get the muddy 'medals of honour' reference above but I just love seeing them all clean again!!😮🙂

I don't do anything to mine., my trail shoes just seem to shrug off muck. Once dry they are fine. I wonder if they're treated with Teflon or sommat ☺
