A brief update for all my wonderful running family here, I did get back to running and although still a little sporadic managed some 5k,s and was beginning to see the light π
Alas over the last 3 weeks the spectre of an health issue has risen its ugly head, at this point there is No specific diagnosis as investigations are on going ....
Needless to say alsorts of dark thoughts have passed through my mind but trying to push those away ...
So for now there is no running although the problem doesnt stop me i feel I should reserve all my energies and channel them into positive thoughts
Maybe this was the under lying cause of my malaise previously ... until I know definitely I can do no more or say no more other than thank you all for your continued support and concern.
I hope you are all fit and well and continuing to shine as we all have done snice we found running π
Oh Rob, I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I don't know what they are investigating you for, but you came to the right place for support. Lots of us on here have had diagnoses which looked pretty black at the time. When I was diagnosed with MS in 1998 I honestly thought I was for the chop, and I couldn't see any good times to come. Many years later, and many life experiences later, it obviously hasn't gone away, but I changed my life to work round it not to let it rule me, and better times came out of a tricky situation.
Check out Als Mum and others who are going through all sorts of health issues at the moment, and you will know that keeping in touch with your friends here will help you through.
I hope you will soon be sorted out and can get back to 'normal' life and running again. Keep us posted, and know that we're here when you need us.
It is so good to hear from you again, I have often wondered how you were getting on.
I really hope that you get to the bottom of whatever is causing your ill health. You were a constant source of support and encouragement to a lot of us who were going through the programme at the same time, and now we are here for you if you need us.
Take care mate, wishing for a positive outcome for you xxx
Hi Rob, so sorry to hear of all you are going through - you are definately missed on the forum as Poppypug says above. Take advise from the experts around you who will hopefully help you back to a better place, health wise - and know that we (and your running) will be here for you when you are feeling stronger. Take care, Sandra x
I'm so sorry to hear this Rob. You're such a lovely bloke. I always really appreciate your posts. It must be very frustrating not to know what the problem is but I think you're right to try and stay calm and positive. I could imagine that running would be a boon at a worrying time like this but whether or not you run, please let us know how you are doing.
Aw Rob, I'm so sad to read that you are going through tough times. I hope you don't have to wait long before you get a diagnosis and then you know what you're dealing with. Try not to let the dark thoughts take hold. One day at a time. Sending you lots of xxx and a big hug.
Rob - just like the running part, you might not have us physically present as you go through this, but believe me we are with you in spirit. Keep us posted with what you can and we will keep you in our respective religious or whatever observances.
I was just thinking of you reading a reply from Andy and wondering how you were, then popped to bridge to 10k and saw your update. Please keep in touch Rob , we are all here to support you. Hoping you get your diagnosis and know where to go next, such a worrying time but keep strong. Sending you a big hug ((( ))) xxx
I know you say you are not one for 'putting it all out there' but changed situations are opportunities for change... I don't say that to put pressure on you to share more than you need but please, please don't feel constrained either.
Do remember that running *makes* positive thoughts. I'm sure you are right not to flog your body hard (we've seen people do that) but it sounds to me as though you could really use some endorphins. I very well know that tests, appointments, fuss, bother, genuinely may not leave enough energy for running or even the brain power of getting your stuff on and getting out but I am unconvinced that our batteries hold charge terribly well so trying to store it up may not work.
We really want to support you through whatever it is.
Really good to hear from you Rob... I'm sure everyone wishes you the best for the future. If you can, get those shoes on for a few miles in, its a great distraction from life!!!
Please try to keep in touch, we are thinking of you and we all miss your not so slow run reports!!.
Hi Rob, I hope they get the bottom of everything soon so you can either move on or deal. I know running helps with stress but sometimes I find the stress has tired me out so much I just don't have the energy so I understand. When that happens I walk. I find time with my music and fresh air does me the world of good. Thinking of you Rfc x
...I am so sad for you...I can only hope that the eventual diagnosis is one which allows you to get back to your life and running. You will be in my prayers...xx
Hey Not_So_Slow_Rob, so lovely to hear from you again, I'm only sorry it isn't with happier news. Really hope your diagnosis, when it finally appears, is the best possible scenario. The not knowing, and the ensuing mental catastrophizing (if that's a real word) are really tough. Knowledge is power and, when you finally know what it is you're up against, then you can take stock and begin the fight back.
So take care my friend and don't be a stranger. Please try find time to let us know how you're getting on, even if it's just a thumbs up/thumbs down every now and then. Honestly Sweetie, there are people here who who genuinely care xx
Yes we sure are ! I'm sorry to hear you're not firing on all cylinders at the moment Rob. I hope the reason for your being under par can be identified quickly so that you might stop worrying. I know it's easy for me to say.
Let's hope the power of all our combined positive vibes will come good. I hope you can still get out for a run while you wait for your results.
Sorry to hear this buddy. The search for answers to our health is so tough, the process itself takes a big toll on us, let alone the underlying issue itself. Hopefully you will have answers soon. We'll all be thinking of you
Hope all comes good Rob. Try not to pre-empt the test results if you can, it's hard I know but wait until you have a diagnosis before you try to fill in any gaps.
I wasn't going to run today , just back from a volunteer shift at Parkrun. But having read your response above, I'm getting ready to go now. I'll have you with me in my thoughts Rob. ππΌββοΈππ»
Oh Rob, just when you were finding your running feet again. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome & in the meantime you know where well are if you want us!
Fingers crossed, Rob. You have helped keep me motivated so much in the past (your name alone is VERY reassuring!), if we can return the favour in any way, please say the word. Hope all goes well. Thinking of you.
Been a fellow-member of the "waiting for diagnosis club" - I send you my love and good wishes. Whatever it turns out to be, you will find that deep inside you there's the strength to deal with it and there will be people around you who will willingly walk (and even run!) with you. xx
