I bumped into a friend yesterday and they asked if I have any events planned. I recited my list and was met with "that much". I don't think it's that bad, I know lots of people who have a lot more.
Jan 31st winter run
My Discombobulated triathlon - Olympic distance.
14-17 March cycle 40km (no medal or anything, just because)
18 March. (12pm) 1.5km swimathon sports relief
20 March.(11.45 am) Olympic Park 6 mile fast walk (training walk for HM)
8th May Hackney HM.
So not much.
What's anyone else got in the pipeline?

It's good to have things in the pipeline to keep you focussed and working that body, keeping fit and motivated
I have ONE event booked. A 10k on 13 December. Not booking anything else as I'm not convinced I'm ready for that, let alone anything else.
If that goes well I will be entering a 10k in March, which I did last year. Dunno if I dare do the mountainous 10k that wrecked my leg, which is scheduled for May. Don't know if I dare re-visit the scene of the crime.
I agree, its great to have something on the horizon to look forward to .
I have a 5 mile race this Sunday
I am considering the Manchester Winter Run 10k in February ( not booked yet ) and also considering the AgeUK Harewood 10k in March but I haven't booked that yet either .
I am definitely planning on doing the Great Manchester Run 10k in May and the Asda Leeds 10k in July and then the Birchwood 10k in August .
Also I will do the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k in November again .
Blimey ! Whoever said running was cheap ? Ha ha ! I do love the big events though and they do come at a price but yer pays yer money etc .
That is my list anyway for next year ........ so far xxx
I'm currently doing the virtual poppy run through november - currently at 82K over several runs, with a further week of running so maybe 2*5k plus whatever I do on sunday - anything from 3k to hm depending on how I feel. Hoping for 100k+
I have two 'real' events coming up
sneyd pudding run - 13/12 - 10miles (training for HM and limited to 2:30)
White horse HM - 03/04 - half marathon (in less than 2:30 which might be a challenge)
There is at least one more I'm considering - coventry hm
Oh nearly forgot
Great Birmingham run - 16/10/16 - half marathon with a more sane time limit.
So fab to hear people are racking up the miles (or kms ) on the Poppy Challenge. November included a bit of a race taper for me so I was super chuffed to work out that a 6.75k today and an 8k on Sunday will get me to a nice round 75k.
Good luck with those last runs. I can't wait to get the bling
I have a XC race on Saturday, 2 more in January and 1 in March. They are all about 6 miles, but distance is rather immaterial with these. It's the mud and the water jumps that make life interesting.
Apart from that I've a 10K road race in December (Saltwell 10K - supposed to be the oldest road race in England) and I'm having my arm twisted to do a fell race on New Year's Day (that one isn't definite - I'm looking for excuses to avoid). My entry is confirmed for the Great North Run, but that's not until September.
I've got a long list of "possibles" that I'm contemplating - mainly 10Ks and half marathons, but people are trying to get me to do some fell races. The jury is still out on that, though. I aim to do at least one race a month throughout next year. There's an outside chance that I might enter the Kielder Marathon next October, but I'm unsure. Ask me again in May.
Have the Winter Run in January and GSR booked. Will probably do the Olympic Park 10K in the summer and hoping I might get a ballot place for the GNR- but would probably have to walk bits of that.
Currently doing the virtual poppy run and have a virtual 10 k in December.
Am also trying to sign up for the Round the Bays in Auckland next March but you need a NZ address to post the bib to so still working on that one.
Ooo now I've read everyone's posts I feel like I aught to sign up for something. Might have to be the Cambridge Wings for Life World Run in May -my fantasy race!
Baldy did a great job, however (dare I say it?) there's a distance calculator on the website. It reckons we could get to around 9k (or even 10k if we ran at 7mim/km)
BUT, and its a big BUT, that wouldn't take into account the inevitable walking start as everyone sets off, unless, of course, the timer doesn't start until the last person crosses the start line (which I doubt) So, in the end Baldy is probably closer than the official calculator. xx
Edit: I'm also seriously tempted by the London Winter Run ☃ xx
I am signed up for the London winter run, the coastal trail HM in Northumberland at the end of Feb (on my runniversary!), the Hawkshead 10k trail in the Lake District (combining it with a 2 day visit to the Lakes with my Mum as neither of us has ever been there) and the Tissington Trail HM in October (I think).
Also planning on doing the Birmingham and Black Country HM in early July along the canals, the idea being that I will do this as my charity run, raising money for a hospice in Birmingham where a friend died nearly two years ago.
There are some others I am toying with in May and September, these are trails (10k and or HM) in the Lake District and Shropshire/Wales, but am going to see how I get on with my coastal trail HM first. There is a lot of choice out there.
Would like to try a fell race some time too - they are a lot cheaper, but need to improve stamina on hills first!
