Very true. That is the bane, in India. Many women do realize it early, but undergo other alternate therapies and then the disease keeps on increasing; finally they land up with oncologist. And believe me, even the most educated also fall for this Ayurveda, Homeopathy etc. Alternate therapy may help healing while undergoing routine treatment (chemotherapy, radiation etc.), but cannot cure cancer, and cannot replace standard treatment. Most people don't realize this, and come up with examples 'I have one relative or a friend who was cured with such alternative treatment, which I think is better than surgery or chemo'; this is a standard statement many tell me, when I conduct cancer awareness lectures.
Five year survival is very poor (just 60%) compared to almost 90% and above in developed countries. There is lot of work to be done. And most importantly, apart from survival, the other factor of breast cancer, i.e. psycho social support is poor, which needs to improve, and that is the very aim of this forum.
Arundhatip,
The above link does not lead to the article mentioned. Is there any other link available for the same or do you have any 'pdf' of this article.
Yeah, the link no longer works. I do not know of any other link to that article, as it is almost a year old.
