My wife was recently diagnosed with cancer in a tumour in right axilla region. The 12mm tumour has been removed with sentinel node biopsy. Out of six lymph nodes examined ( 5 sentinel and 1 nonsentinel), all sentinel nodes were negative for malignancy and one lymph node around 3 cm from the main tumour was found with macrometastatases (greater than 2mm).
As it is viewed by some consultants as a borderline case, I am writing to ask your opinion whether the chemotherapy would be useful or I should go for Oncotype Dx test.

Difficult to say anything without understanding whole situation. The standard guidelines do mention Oncotype DX to be useful in such situations. But the cost it very prohibitive. It’s up to you. If you feel it’s in your budget and your Oncologist is strongly recommending it, then go ahead. And if you are not inclined towards it, then ask your Oncologist about other possible options.
In any case, the report suggests an early stage cancer and outcome here is excellent. She will do well, don’t worry.
