HI ALL,

My mother 64 is TNBC,MRM done. Biopys says

INVASIVE DUCT CARCINOMA, NOS, GRADE III,pSTAGE : pT2N0.

AXILLARY : 16 LYMPHNODES ISOLATED, ALL ARE FREE OF TUMOR. (0/16)

Doctor suggested Chemotherapy as next steps.

4 AC Dose dense followed by weekly Paclitaxel for 12 wks.

Consulted another doctor for second opinion, he suggested 3 Cycles of FEC100 followed by 3 cycle of another medicine (i can not understand what he wrote..something starting with D or P and has 75 at the end, attaching the pic here) . He also said the first suggested chemo (4AC dose dense+ Paclitaxel) is too heavy and since your mother is diabetic & week, she will not be able to withstand it.

Really confused as what is the right line of treatment. Can some one please help.

Both of them are correct as both are standard lines of treatment. There are 5 to 6 first line chemo therapy protocols, all are almost equally effective. Some Oncologists will select this and some will select that. All are correct. You don’t worry. Just select the Oncologist with whom you feel more comfortable and go ahead with treatment. Your mother stands an excellent chance of cure.

Thanks for your response and wishes.

Can you also point out which one could be less taxing on my mother's health.

BTW, what is the second treatment, 3 cycles of FEC100 followed by 3 cycles of ...?

Let your Oncologist decide which is best for your mother.

Sure, will speak to the doctor. But so that i am better prepared in my discussion, does 16 Cycles (4 AC + 12 Paclitaxel) looks like a heavier dose than 6 cycles ( 3 FEC + 3 more). I assume there is more to it than just the number of cycles which i am missing.

If you want Treatment in US, go for 4# AC followed by 12 weekly Paclitaxel

If you want Treatment in UK, go for 3 # FEC + 3 # Docetaxel.

You need to vote either FOR BJP or Congress in the end. You don't have a third choice here in Oncology.

Please ask for financial budget as well.

In the end, if finance not an issue stick with the Oncologist who can spend more time with you and you are more comfortable speaking.

All the best

Thanks for the response..i want treatment in India, any preference there :)

i am really not very comfortable with the oncologist in RG, Rohini....would you be able to refer a onclogist in Delhi who gives good line of treatment, , plus gives good enough time to the patient in hearing the concerns during & post chemo....
