PET CT Scan - Kolkata or Chennai

Dear friends

My mother's routine PET CT scan is now due after completion of Chemo, Radiotheraphy & Herceptin. This is her first one after a year and completion of post treatment.

Please advise if it is suitable to do this in Kolkata or Chennai? We are split between these two locations. I understand it is likely to be same machines but my parents are unnecessarily worried about the location so I am needing some validations!

Also, any idea around the costs?

I m a bit confused.

Chennai to Kolkata by flight would cost 12-14000

Chennai to Kolkata by train would cost 5500-6000

Further taxi costs would add to another 300-500

CT PET scan at both places would be same... That variable will remain constant.

Wonder if you have oncologists to show the report in both cities as well.

Has she had treatment in both cities as well when she had Herceptin and Radiotherapy.

Advise will be to fix the Oncologist to whom you would show the result and then choose city.

It is indeed confusing.

My parents are intending to travel from Bangladesh and Kolkata is the closest. Our primary oncologist is in Bangladesh.

It is just my parents that finding it difficult to decide.

And to give you another perspective,I never had a pet scan after my treatment. The doctors didn’t think that it would provide any additional information after the treatment that would impact future decisions. What I did have was a mammogram of the other breast and an ultrasound of the affected side (because I had reconstruction done using diep) six months after my last radiotherapy session.

Kindly I need information from you. Have you bought herceptin in bangladesh? How many injections your mother needed? What was the price per injection? My mother is also HER2(+++). It will be a great help if you give these informations.
