Ms Kalyani Menon Sen is a social activist who it is reported to have made efforts for bringing down the cost of Herceptin in India including writing to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. As you may know that there are many options available abroad for the treatment of Her2 + cancers becoming resistant to Herceptin or given in conjunction with Herceptin like Tykerb, Perjeta, TDMI etc which could prolong survival. However, these are not available in India and cost prohibitive. A full course of TDMI is said to cost dollars 98000/- approximately. This can be afforded only by the very, very rich.
Is there any way we can make a collective appeal to her through this forum and seek her support for getting these drugs available in India at affordable prices?
