I thought I had a cold and lost my voice back in early December, saw the gp first appointment after Christmas as coughing not stopping.
Saw head and neck consultant in February and was told 10 days ago likely secondaries (5 years since initial breast cancers).
I have a 3cm lump in chest plus enlarged lymph nodes but he didn’t want to tell me any more as referring back to my oncologist for her to explain and would send referral letter to us both. I was totally not expecting this as an option.
10 days and still don’t know if definitely cancer, or where exactly it is. I don’t need a fait accompli just to know where it is would help.
Said would ring me on Thursday but didn’t. Timing of bank holiday means now likely to be 8th April before they get round to seeing me.

I went through something similar earlier this year, fortunately the lump was not cancerous, and they have decided not to do anything. I was so relieved to get out of the hospital quickly, I never did ask what exactly what it was. So many people around here (Bucks) have had the horrible cough for months, including my 76 year old sister, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you it is also benign. Trouble is the bank holidays don't help x
Thank you - yes the bank holidays have fallen badly for me meaning no Monday clinic so an extra week on hold. It is the waiting and not knowing that is the worst. I have my fingers crossed.
Because I was transferred between hospitals back to oncology means have no support allocated until am seen officially at local hospital- and no appointment set. Just told person off sick and go to A&E if not well. Can’t do that for simple questions. So your kind thoughts are much appreciated.
Yes They saw me on Monday to say have chest, femur, cervical spine, pelvis and lymph node secondaries.
They did a broncoscopy to biopsy the chest but unfortunately I coughed too much so they couldn’t take the samples. However they have booked me in for radiotherapy to leg so hopefully will be less painful soon.
There still is not a support nurse but the gp is being very supportive which is good as am now struggling to get around.
Lilly Flower, That's a tough outcome to deal with. Sending you very best wishes for treatmemt helping to control the pain & you regaining some mobility.Kindest regards
