Been ages since I have written on here and have been doing so well until just before Christmas where I started to get a funny sensation in my back. It feels like a burning feeling deep inside (as if it is an organ) It starts on the right hand side where my bra strap is and then goes down and across my lower back. I had a CT scan last week and are waiting for the result. I had a left mastectomy 2 years ago, followed by lymp node removal as trace of cancer in the one they removed. They removed 9 which were all clear. I had chemo and radio after.
My question is have anyone experienced the same burning feeling? I am worried sick if the I have cancer else where How comes I didn't have a full body scan back then to see if there was any cancer?

I think a lot of us haven’t been on here for a while & suddenly quite a few familiar names have been popping up this week.
I too am waiting on a CT Scan l have awful pain in my left flank, kidney area & am on my third lot of Antibiotics following three Positive Urine Tests. I keep telling myself it’s probably a kidney stone but you can’t help but wonder can you?......

I had my scan last Tuesday and they recon it can take up to 2 weeks for the result. It sounds like the same sort of pain you are experiencing although I have no pain when going to the toilet. They also examined me and said they could not feel anything abnormal. When will you get your results?
No l have nothing to suggest a urine infection, l just took a sample with me as the pain in my side was so bad & when GP dipped sticked it, it lit up like a Christmas Tree showing positive for everything!
Yes CT’s take a couple of weeks, so no answers on the day. With your pain being on the right, have they considered your gallbladder?
They haven't really said much only that they wanted to do the CT scan so we all can sleep at night lol
Im am trying to stay positive and not be a wreck like I was when I first found the cancer lump in my breast, I totally went to pieces. I go swimming 4 mornings a week and have been for the last year.

Hi Gitte, sadly we are all in the same boat in one way or another. With each new ache or pain it raises a fear that cancer has returned. I am waiting for a scan as I noticed last Saturday morning an odd burning, achy sensation, along with an irritating itch, in my right armpit. I felt a lump and went to my GP who also noticed lumps. It is felt that I have inflamed lymph nodes. So a scan and a wait on results once again. I had a double mastectomy with left axilla lymphnode clearance in 2016 followed by chemo and radio. I can identify with your worries. It is easier said than done, but try to busy yourself with activities you enjoy to give you something different to focus on, and try to reduce the level of stress this worry can bring. Stress compounds the issues and can contribute to making things worse. In the meantime, I wish you all the best, that your results are clear and you go on to live a long, healthy and happy life. PS, as regards the scan, once you have gone through treatment, they test all tissue removed, as yours was clear, and you had chemo and radio for the initial cancer, there was no need to scan. However, had your tissue shown residual cancer, those are cancer cells 2mm or smaller then you would have had further treatment as residual cancer cannot be picked up on any scan as they are far to small (albeit that there are lots of cells in that 2mm). They are found in lab tests only and further action, such as scans are taken in order to see if they have formed a tumor elsewhere. The whole process of chemo etc starts all over again to tackle the cells as, basically, they are roaming around looking to join together to form another tumor. I hope this helps.
Thank you so much for your reply. You are right about keeping yourself busy. I took up swimming last april and goes every morning before work and do 50 lengths. I am absolutely loving it and it keeps my mind healthy. I have also meet a lovely bunch of friendly people to have a chat to. If it wasn't for swimming I'm sure I would be going crazy like I did when I was diagnosed with the breast cancer. I totally just had a melt down.
Also thank you for explaining the scan question, it makes sense now.

I hope you are well. The hospital phoned me to say that the scans were not showing anything, thank god, but as the pain is still there they want me to have a bone scan. I am seeing my Oncologist next week so should know more then. I just wondered how you got on with your results?
