Shedding
Hello Sebsmum......I am at the same stage as you but I didn't use a cold cap.I wrote a post the other day and got some helpful replies. I think it would help to read them. My hair is still moulting a lot three days on. I will probably get a mobile hairdresser to come and cut/buzz it this week . Time for it to go. It's not nice but it has to be done. Have you got hats, scarves ,wig at the ready ? We're all in this together. Children are quite resilient and Seb will probably sail through having Mum having a new hairstyle. Good Luck !
Hi. Everyone is different! I used a cold cap and still lost mine. Some people’s hair thinned a bit, others kept their full head of hair. I would just explain to your 10 year old that you are having some Medicine to get better and that it can affect your hair. Generally children are very accepting. My friends young son drew a wonderful picture of the meds blasting the bad cells. It was on the wall in chemo for months! Good luck x
I did have my hair cut very short before hospital admission partly due to managing it. I then had chemo with cold cap and did keep my hair on my head but it did shed....I think it still in my rug.....8 years later 😱😱😀 i lost every other hair on my body....j
Good luck with your journey 😀😀😀
Thanks it’s such a hard time just now thinking I was doing ok then I start shedding everywhere
😘😘
Hi, Gawd you sound like me! I did it for my then 9 year old son. It is a great motivator for continuing!
Yes the shedding is normal and happened to me at exactly the same time as you. I very nearly gave up and decided not to have the cold cap for the second chemo as got in a bit of a state about it.... but I persevered and although lost volume everywhere and had a few thin patches where the cap didn't fit right, I did keep loads and it filled in quickly after chemo stopped. You will shed throughout, I had a bag full by the end, but it didn't all go just became straggly and thin..
Now (finished chemo Jan 2016) my hair is thicker than ever, isn't as grey as before and ten times curlier than it was... (my profile pic is from early last year) is definitely worth it, but will also say if it does get too painful or you really have had enough then any decision you make is the right one for you x
Thanks got the clippers in three days ago
