Hi , my name is Karen, I was diagnosed with invasive lobular cancer in 2011 after an implant reconstruction and a nasty septic episode I underwent a DIEP operation in 2014 which was an amazing reconstruction and wish I had done it originally...I have also had an implant put into my remaining breast to make them symmetrical ...so very happy girl...I had a brilliant surgeon and as of today's date I am Disease free...if anyone is thinking of having a DIEP and would like to get in contact I would be more than happy to let you know of my experience 😊
hello: Hi , my name is Karen, I was... - My Breast Cancer ...
hello
Hi Karen thanks for sharing - I'm going in to have a DIEP op on the 6th March after being diagnosed with extensive dcis on the 8th Feb. I'm just waiting for the results of lymph node biopsy

Hi Karen,
I too was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and after chemo, radiation and mastectomy had an implant reconstruction which had to be removed due to infection. I am due to have a DIEP op at the end of June so it will coincide with my summer break (I am a SNA so have the summer off). I am just wondering how long your recovery took? I would love to plan a summer holiday at the end of August but I don't know if that would be too optimistic?
Emma
Hi Emma, I was back at work after 6 weeks, mind you I do heal very quickly but if you have a good surgeon and listen to what they tell you regarding rest etc I don't see why you shouldn't be able to have your summer holiday at the end if August...please stay in contact and let me know how it goes or if you want to ask anything else...I am always here for a chat 😊 x
Please do...it will be good to know how you are doing x
