Swollen legs pain in hips and lower back....

hi everyone - I finished 6 sessions of chemo three weeks ago and now will have mastectomy on 8 March. I will have 12 more sessions of herceptin at 3 weekly intervals too... But I am surprised to find that since my last chemo my legs have become swollen, my hips are very sore and I am having real trouble walking because my lower back seems to be seizing up when I walk - this despite my doing an exercise routine every morning and I have even started gentle yoga - but nothing seems to shift this problem. Has anyone else experienced this? It only came on AFTER the final chemo session! I am disgusted!!!😌

I would mention it to your breast care nurse... I was on similar treatment plan and finished my herceptin in October 2015. I suffer from joint pain and in particular my feet. I am putting this down to the Herceptin and it will get better come time. Gentle exercise hopefully will help and the pain reduces. You have been through a lot. Take each day as it comes..stay strong x

Take cod liver oil. I hate the stuff but in may ease it. I'm like that after three sessions but it has eased. I've had my op, a bilateral mastectomy 7weeks ago. Nit they have found residual cells and I'm about to start an even stronger chemo. It was too good to be true that it was all caught. Never mind though. The battle continues. Good luck

Cod liver oil is a good ideis thanks Lainey . I am very sorry to hear that they found residual cells - and that you have to go through more chemo - stay well and keep going.

yes i take cod liver oil too and also eat a healthy diet. no smoking and very little alcohol. i do dancercise and walk a little but rest as much as i can. i had double mastectomy and waiting reconstruction. its a long road but the effects of chemo lessen in time.

I am suffering from the same side effects, I feel like an old woman !! I know everyone is different, but I have two other friends that have had breast cancer and are still having problems with their legs 4 years after treatment :-( Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and I hope you don't suffer for as long

Omg i had the same problem went to a vascular surgeon and he referred me back to the oncologist and she said I was being hard on myself... I have started wearing support tights, I find the ones from Tesco are very good, but I go through a lot of them because I seem to put my fingers through them lol.. Anyway they have helped me, I have been going for massages too which have helped. But none of the doctors can tell me that it was from the chemo..

Wow! so you had it too Jayne - I checked it out today at the hosp- they did x-rays of lower back but found nothing - they suggested a Physio assessment - I am convinced it is the chemo but the doctors don't seem interested in discussing this. Oncology nurse said it could be chemo and to take it easy... Thanks for the tip re support tights and massage. I might also try acupuncture...

Take care bernxx
