The patch

So basically I started using the patch but I put it on really late in the day, like around 6pm. Once I put it on I didn’t stick it on proper so after 1 hour I took it of and replaced it. So as I stuck it on late in the day do I still count that as my first day and will I still be protected right away.

Copied from the nhs page on the contraceptive patch.

If you start using the patch on the first day of your period, and up to and including the fifth day of your period, you'll be protected from pregnancy straight away.

If you start using it on any other day, you need to use an additional form of contraception, such as condoms, for the first 7 days.

I'd recommend reading through the page as there is lots of information on what to do if they don't stick and when they are effective etc.
