Hi! We had our 13 week scan and because baby wouldn't get into the right position (despite every effort!) the sonographer was unable to get a clear nuchal measurement of the fluid behind the neck to indicate downs. I am worried and looking for any signs of abnormalities in our scan photo. The jaw looks pointy/deformed and the nose looks large. I don't know what to think of the fluid behind the neck as its not clear. This is my first baby, we had IVF, I am terrified of having a child with congenital defects/disabilities. Can anyone advise if this looks normal??

Sorry to hear about your scan Lovely. I am not an expert at reading scan photos so i can’t help there unfortunately. Did the sonographer tell you they had concerns? They are trained to spot growth abnormalities and would flag if they saw something not quite right with the face. Are you going back? Sometimes they ask you to come back to try again. You could always book in a private scan if you’re worried. Have you opted for the blood test screening? This will give you the chances of the baby having a chromosomal defect like Edwards or Downs.
Hope that helps a bit! X
