Hi There,

Sorry to hear your news. The hospital are doing the bloods to see if the pregnancy hormones are rising (continuing pregnancy) or falling (a miscarriage). Standard urine PT's will stay positive until a complete miscarriage happens, and often for a few weeks afterwards as they cover such a wide range of levels, whereas bloods are far more specific. Be assured the hospital are looking after you, if you are sadly miscarrying then this may happen naturally and the hospital will also be checking the pregnancy is not ectopic (not in your womb). This is a link to a great support web site that may help you through this difficult time miscarriageassociation.org.uk/ .

Best Wishes

Katherine
