Hi, I recently had sex with my boyfriend but stupidly it was unprotected. He is 19 and I'm only 17. That's why I'm concerned as to what to do. I'm 5 days late for my period which is abnormal as it is usually on time or two days late max. Plus I have sore breasts, tiredness and nausea. I was wondering if you had any advice. Thank you

Hi there,

A lighter, shorter or missed period can be a sign of pregnancy, so it would be best to take a pregnancy test if you haven’t done so already. You can get tests for free from your GP or local contraceptive and sexual health clinic, you can find your nearest one here: fpa.org.uk/find-a-clinic although you can also buy them from pharmacies, supermarkets and even pound shops. There is more information about taking a test from the NHS website: nhs.uk/Livewell/Sexandyoung...

If you are pregnant, please don't panic. There are options available to you. If you are very anxious, you might want to take the test with you boyfriend, or a close and trusted friend. Or you might want to take the test with a medical professional at a clinic. It's completely up to you, but it would be better to take the test sooner rather than later.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Katherine
