I need advice!

I'm 16, and me and my boyfriend are going to have sex for the 1st time soon. I need to know when I am less fertile, just for a pro-cation since I don't want to be pregnant. We will use protection and I'm on the pill, but I just need to do everything I can not to get pregnant, since that's what I'm scared of.

If you are using a reliable method of contraception and using it according to the pack instructions (so taking your pill every day etc) and using condoms as a back-up, it is unlikely that you will fall pregnant . I'm not sure which method of contraception you are using, but if you are very anxious about conceiving then you might want to consider a method like the implant which is 99.9% effective at preventing pregnancy. Most women are at their most fertile around the time of ovulation, which for most women is around 14 days before the start of their next period. For most women, they will be at their least fertile right after the end of their period. However, every woman's cycle is different, which is why you can't rely on this alone to prevent pregnancy and need to use contraception too.

I know you must be nervous, but be assured you are doing the right, responsible thing by using contraception. Just make sure you use it as the instructions say and if you have any questions about your contraception you could always have a chat with the contraceptive nurse at your nearest clinic or your GP.
