Hi there,
There is always a chance of pregnancy with unprotected sex. If your period is late, lighter or shorter than usual then you should take a pregnancy test. If this is negative but your period hasn't arrived after 4 days, you should retest. If this is negative but your period is still late it might be best if you went to speak to you GP or /local contraceptive or sexual health clinic as they can go over your dates with you and check if there is anything else which might be affecting your cycle. If the test is positive, you can speak to your GP about your options.
If you are having sex and do not intend to get pregnant then you should start using a reliable form of contraception which you can obtain from the CASH clinic, your GP or a family planning clinic. We have a guide to the different methods online here which might be of use: bpas.org/js/filemanager/fil...
I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Katherine
Hi
Thanks for the reply. Just a clarification on the above. i had my period starting on 20/12/14 and we had unprotected sex on 10/01/15 and 11/01/15. than on 15/01/15 i had my period. so does this means that I am safe.
Hi there,
If this period is the same as usual, so not lighter, shorter, or later than normal, then it is unlikely that you will be pregnant but if you are concerned you can test 21 days after you had unprotected sex.
Best wishes,
Katherine
