Terrible time to get sick. I am in a quandary. I am on ABs, the cramping is going, pain is diminished, tenderness greatly reduced. BUT all systems are not working. No BM in 3 days, no ‘real’ one in 5 or so days. Have had reduced appetite, and have moved to liquid diet. Think the antibiotics are working as i’ don[t have pain.
I started cipro as soon as I knew a flair had kicked in. And 2 days later I got my blood work and with a CRP of 155, i decided to start metronizole which I had.
Am very afraid i have a bowel blockage as my abdomen is super extended
Do i need to go to ER? Given I am not in pain, I don’t think I do. We are hosting 30 ppl here for xmas dinner tomorrow. Would like to not be in hospital for that.
Given i am not in pain, I don’t think it is an emergency.
When does this need to be seen by a DR?

hi, I too am in a divicular flare up, I just want to stay in bed, but have to go to my sons which is an hours drive from me, just want the day to go as smooth as possible, I’m so worked up about the travel and how my stomach will cope, I working myself right up. Haven’t got any antibiotics as I just finished some and they worked at the time. I think I just need to relax but find it so hard to do so. Anyway I wish you good health and a happy stress free Christmas Day.
I would be a bit worried about the lack of “movement “ but good you are not in pain. May be good to get some advice. Bowel blockages are very painful , I’ve had one . Maybe things will resolve , fingers crossed .
So glad to hear that everything resolved. I think just a probiotic and eating probiotic foods restoring you gut. This is a horrible disease. I had a bowel resection because ofOne bad infection. Although I think I’ve had lots of little infections that my doctor didn’t recognise because he was useless.
