Anyone know? Would have to be over say 5 years, one group on drugs but not making changes to diet or exercise, one matched group no drugs but adhered to diet and exercise. Maybe a third group doing both and that group could have a placebo arm. Outcome measured bone density and compression fractures, and side effects also reported, but not falls.
My guess is that this has never been done, but it would be exciting if it has.

Totally agree Graceissufficient, 9 months into my osteoporosis awareness of a -3.2 t score in spine and femur, and I found making decisions on what advice to follow very overwhelming.. a study of the different responses to different choices would be super helpful! I've gone with trying everything... HRT, weekly actonel and a very gentle strength building program .. (also trying to increase veggie intake and stay away from processed foods.. Emphasis on the word trying 😉)
Anyway im feeling good..... apart from being terrified what the future may hold..
I appreciate reading everyone's posts as osteoporosis can feel very isolating and I'm only just getting used to saying the words out loud to others
There is an AI tool called perplexity.ai which can be set in "academic mode" (on the website). This works like a better search engine. It provides explanations like an AI like chatgpt but includes references.
If you try it check the references are reliable, sometimes they are not.
sorry I meant to reply to Graceissufficient
Maybe you can find studies that way but nothing great came up when I looked.
Wow, thanks pet. My guess is funding wouldn't be available for such a study, which would be quite expensive, and obviously drug companies wouldn't fund unless they were sure of a favourable outcome.
