We’ll, I haven’t ever had one but I gather from what I’ve read and seen on here it helps to drink lots of water before, during and after your infusion and I think some people ask for the infusion to happen more slowly but I’m sure someone who has had infusions will come along and tell you.

I was very unwell after my first infusion and only reluctantly had the second after looking at the different side effects from other treatments.

I phoned ROS who were extremely helpful. The kind lady advised that I ask (nicely!) to slow the infusion to 30 mins. I drank a LOT of water on the day before, and the infusion day. She also advised taking paracetamol an hour or two before the infusion and four hours later. Make sure you rest and take it easy.

Apart from having a slight headache and feeling a bit sluggish and achy the next day, I was fine.

I had a third infusion in May, followed all the suggestions and had minimal side effects. It is thought that the first infusion is the worst and the side effects lessen for subsequent infusions. That is certainly my experience.

Hopefully this helps for you too.

Hello and thanks for your reply, yes I'm reluctantly going too I'm going on holiday 3 days after so hope I'm OK, did the nurse slow the drip down for you ? I'm going to ask them to as well, x

Yes, I asked the nurse to slow it to 30 mins. I thought she might say I couldn't for some reason, but she was happy to do it once I explained how ill I was before. I was worried, as I expect you are, but my experience was fine, and after 3 days you will certainly be well enough for your holiday.

May I suggest you get everything ready for your holiday before your infusion? It will be one less thing you don't have to worry about and you can rest easy.

I had my 1st infusion last Thursday. I drank lots of water both before, after & during the infusion. I requested them to do it over 30 minutes. So far I haven't had any side effects other than feeling a bit light headed & tired later in the day after the infusion. Good luck

Thank you for your reply, yes I will make sure i drink loads and hope they will do it for 30 minutes instead of 15 minutes, if they say they can't for any reason I don't think I will have it as that will be quite fast going in I think,I'm going to ring them Monday and ask them before I'm due to go Wednesday so fingers crossed 🤞 and thank you.
