I am waiting for a tooth extraction at the hospital.I have had two infusions, due the third in September.

My dentist found a problem last year with a damaged filling. She and my GP were very helpful and I was told treatment could go ahead with replacing the filling, I was at low risk.

However when she came to do the filling it needed more work, extraction possible

I was referred to hospital, one year wait!

The tooth is now mainly filling but I have no pain!

I am not looking forward to this!

I am so happy you are pain free for now. May I ask about having to wait one year for a tooth extraction? Is it a part of the nature of your health system?

I was told by my dentist the waiting list was one year! However I've just had an email asking if I still need the appointment so may hear soon

That will be roughly six months.

As I'm not in pain it's not a problem, but if I was ......

Thanks for the Info I've also had 2 infusions one in 2022 and 2023 I've cancelled my one for July.. I'm having to go to Maxofacial surgery and having to do it privately so just want to be sure before I go ahead and pay out £3000...5000.

Hi Bonniekitt2013 , Thanks for your question about tooth extraction, our specialist nurses tell us there are many misconceptions around the risk of ONJ and dental treatment. Osteonecrosis of the jaw is rare and for most people the benefits of the drug will outweigh the risk of this rare problem. But it gets a lot of coverage on websites and in the media. People tell us they get scared by the stories they read and think it is more common than it is. If you would like to know more about this, we have a factsheet here: strwebprdmedia.blob.core.wi... which gives detailed information on this topic. Best wishes, ROS Moderator
