Mix Up?

In July I was diagnosed with osteoporosis, GP said my dexa scan results show left hip T-score is -3•5 and lumber spine -3•1 and 36% chance of fracture.

Fast forward to today I finally remembered to ask for a copy of that Dexa Scan and it read, left femoral neck -2•9, lumber spine -3•1 and left hip -2•4.

T scores at lumber spine and left femoral neck indicate osteoporosis. Fracture risk 32% and hip fracture risk 6.7%.

The question is where does the hip -3.9 come from?

I think maybe only your GP can answer this.

Hello! I’m sorry to hear you have this. I have suffered seven back fractures and a broken foot in the last three years. 4 back fractures this year so am in a lot of pain if I do very much. My back score was minus 5.5 it is now minus 4.3 my him score was minus 4.3. It is now minus 3.4. I was on terraparatide for two years which I had to inject myself every day. I’m now on six monthly injections of Denosumab. Plus I have calcium tablets twice a day. Please look after yourself and do what the Drs tell you. It’s a nasty shock when you are told this.

I tried Alendronic Acid but had terrible side effects stopped after 4 wks. It’s took 6 wks for the last of the side effects to subside. Going to try Risedronate but I’ve got other stuff going on health wise at the moment so when I’m sorted I intend to start Risedronate.

I only had one tablet o AA and I was really sick. I was in hospital at the time and I was taken off of them. Have you had any fractures?

I fractured my wrist in January before I was diagnosed. AA caused numerous side effects for me, I wasn’t sick though.

I fractured my hand before being diagnosed. We’re a right pair aren’t we. I’m glad they are sorting you before you get too bad.

My mam broke her hip before she was diagnosed with osteoporosis so I asked for a Dexa scan because of this and my wrist fracture. I had previously asked my GP twice for a scan because of my mam having osteoporosis and was refused.

I’m afraid that’s how it’s got now. When I broke my hand after a fall they X-rayed but nothing else. Had they done a dexa scan I wonder if I would have all the breaks I’ve got. They could maybe have given me treatment earlier.
