Hi Pop 63,

I find your post really interesting.

I am so sorry to hear you have Oral thrush, it is something that can really drag your health and mood down.

I know because I also have had it.

I had a two years course of treatment with Teraparatide, I had terrible nausea, sickness and bone pain all during the 2 years I was receiving treatment. (I did keep on with it though to the end)

I did not have oral thrush whilst using Teraparatide.

BUT I was plagued by oral thrush when receiving 3 monthly injections of Ibandronate.

Also after having 1 injection of prolia last year.

When receiving Ibandronate (for 3 years) the thrush was blamed on an inhaler I had been using.

This was later proved not to be the case.

It was the Ibandronate that caued it.

I would be treated for it then it would re appear it was so bad that they ended up putting the treatment for it on my repeat prescription.

It made my life hell and I was so miserable.

It got into my gullet and this was diagnosed by having a camera put down.

The worst thing was not knowing what was causing it because I knew it was not the inhaler but of course the doctors just fobbed me off all the time.

In 2018 I had 2 injections of ibandronate one In the August and one in the November I was not using the inhaler that I had been using years before.

The oral thrush came back after each injection needless to say the In and was stopped.

I had the Prolia injection last year and the thrush came back again, and I could not get rid of it.

In March this year I had a camera down which showed the thrush to be in my gullet.

Have you been treated with other Bone meds prior to using Teraparaide??

For instance any of the Bisphosponates.??

It is not the Forsteo that is making you feel fatigued, wooly headed and low in mood it will be the oral thrush.

I do not know what treatment they have given you for it but my advice would be finish the course and see if they will give you a further course to follow it, to ensure it has cleared up.

I hope this helps in some way.

If you feel you want to ask me anything, I will try my best to answer.

Take care.

Hi Sunseaandsand

Thanks so much for your reply. I hadn’t linked the thrush to the symptoms so that’s really helpful. I’m having blood tests and continuing the injections for now. I couldn’t tolerate bisphosphonates v well and was considered very high risk . I saw a private rheumatologist and he prescribed Forsteo ; I didn’t want prolia.

Thanks again ; no idea what could’ve cause the thrush!

Hello Pop63

Sorry you've been having problems.

I see you're having blood checks - I had difficulties during the first two weeks nausea, headaches I did have fatigue and mentally not great. Put the not feeling great down to the other symptoms, contacted the hospital had blood checks to learn I had too much calcium in my system with the injections and daily pill. Told to cut down to every other day with the calcium pills and within a few days was fine.

Do hope you are able to get something sorted out.

Best Wishes
