I am taking Vit D3 as a supplement and have left out the the D 3+Cal my doctor prescribe as it made me feel ill. I must remember to step up my dairy.

Dairy is not necessarily the only or even best food source of calcium. Apparently liquid milk in much quantity can actually be deleterious, although fermented foods like yoghurt and kefir are good. You also need vitamin K2, magnesium and a suite of other nutrients for bone health.

Oh and I don't drink more than 150mls of milk per day and it would be less but I use it for taking my Preds in the morning. I don't eat until well after midday so the milk is a small protective measure.

Hi IdasMum. In addition to what HeronNS said, I add that if you found that a calcium supplement made you feel ill, you might try a different calcium supplement. I found that those containing calcium carbonate bothered my stomach, but those containing calcium citrate do not.

Thank you.

I have also to avoid Sorbitol (causes bloating and flatulence) which was in many of the choices and in the one I have is maltodextrin which caused bloating, flatulence and general malaise. Others had Aspartame in!

It was complicated in the pharmacy (I am in France) trying to work through all the ingredients of each product she brought out for me. It's only looking on line I can actually read the ingredients more easily.

I am not a lover of dairy but will increase my yogurt intake. France, the home of cheese lovers, but not me :)

So annoying to be prescribed such rubbish when I work hard towards a healthy diet and take regular good quality supplements. I am taking Vit D3, Vit B complex, Antioxident Boost and Pro Biotic Boost alongside Organic Greens complex a couple of times a week.

I think overall I will stick to my Neal's Yard supplements which have no synthetic fillers, no GM, no nano technology , Gluten free, yeast free etc.

It's a pity you don't like cheese. Apparently brie is a very good choice because it's a good source of Vitamin K2.

I eat cheese now and again. It's not part of my daily intake. I like Brie...will add it in and see if I remember to take some more frequently.

In a country of cheese and wine lovers I have failed though :)
