I am so sorry you had to go through all of that. The problem and then the awful experience at the ER. Unfortunately that's about normal for where I am. But sometimes you have no choice. Did it say anything on your discharge papers about what the tests showed or do you have access to something like MyChart that gives you your test results? Have you been having issues with constipation again regularly or an isolated event? If it's still been an issue I'd think ask the Dr what else you can do if what your taking isn't working. Jimmy hated all the different meds he took every day for constipation but he hated having to get an enema more. He was on lactulose , miralax, a stool softener , Movantik which is for constipation caused by pain killers every day . Then an additional laxative as needed. As long as he followed the regimen he was good but if he didn't take any of them , he was constipated really quick . Plus since he has Hepatic Encephalopathy as well, not pooping could cause him to have an episode where he was confused, slurring words , etc because of the toxins built up in his brain since his liver wasn't good at filtering them pooping was the way to keep them from building up. Even though he was on Xifaxian for the HE, it didn't work very well if he was constipated and couldn't get those toxins out. If you still haven't had a bowel movement, I think I'd call the Dr or go back to ER depending on if you know the results of the tests. Again I'm so sorry. I know how painful that is. ♥️♥️♥️Sharon ❤️
