I've been taking amlodipine 10mg as well as atorvastatin 20mg for 18 months. I've 2 fairly straightforward questions: I've been told that the statin can contribute to lowering bp, as its effect is to lower my cholesterol. Is that correct?

Secondly, my understanding is that the liver is most active in producing the cholesterol that statins are supposed to reduce overnight. Does it follow that the statin is most usefully taken after my evening meal?

I have been taking Amlodipine & a statin at bedtime every night for about 20 years…both BP & Cholesterol are fine ..my consultant said I could take both when convenient..but check what your doctor recommends.
