Different readings within minutes

Sorry I am so new to all of this after being recently diagnosed. I seem to be getting real fluctuations in readings in the space of minutes. For example, tonight:

152/101

138/81

125/95

113/86

all done on the same arm, same position. How am I meant to know what is correct?

hello and sorry if I'm telling you what you already know but here's how I've learned to take my blood pressure and it's seen me right.

Worth noting that if I take my BP the minute I sit down, it's always much higher than when I've been sitting for 5 mins.

I take it 4 times a day. Twice in the morning and twice in the evening.

I get settled in a chair with my feet on the ground, no telly or anything, BP monitor on the table in front of me.

Then I put the cuff on my non-dominant arm, not too tight & not loose and wait about 5 minutes before taking a reading.

Then I hit the button and don't move until it's finished.

I wait about 10 or 15 mins between readings. I just stay in position until it's time to take the next reading.

Hope that's of some help. Let us know how you get on.

Thank you very much! I will try this tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. I have been pressing the button as soon as I sit down.

Hi sorry to hear your feeling anxious. It really doesn't help I've been there but easier said than done to control. My GP told me to ignore first reading record second and third. I find deep breathing helps. Good luck!

It's a bit like rearing children.

Throw away the first one and take an average of the next 3.

No need to wait- just one after the other - quick fire! (Readings- not kids!😝)

Stress is a huge factor in BP readings.

As the others say- sit straight, hands on table, breathe relaxedly.

I enjoy watching my readings being affected by my mindfulness!

Good luck.
