I'm 74 ,have been the same weight (66kg) for 55years, don't smoke, eat low salt diet, no alcohol and was very fit until the last year when I slowed down because of extreme fatigue (which I put down to side effect of Covid vaccinations, which I utterly support)
I went to the Dr about the fatigue, and he found I had very high blood pressure (190/80 ) even after a 24hr monitor.
He has put me on Amlodipine 5mg (Accord) and told me to exercise, starting gently.
He did say my blood sugars were high- I queried prediabetic? And he didn't disagree
Any thoughts on all this?
Advice?
I have a thick skin!

Hello Madlegs1, I have been treated on and off for raised blood pressure since my 20s . It goes up when I visit DRs so I do my readings at home . Mine is up in this heat but not as high as yours. I can't take the pills as I have allergic reactions . Yours should soon come under control and all the advise given if followed should help. Even a small weight loss can help. The Heart specialist told me each decade of life our BP goes up a little no harm in trying to keep it down unless you have some other problem that prevents this. Diabetis can be improved by diet too . I have been the weight I am for many years and my mum was always overweight for her height but she lived to 97 with no heart problems or Bp trouble. I believe if weight is steady then that's OK Many things are about whats normal for yourself. Keep cool and good luck with a changed health regime hope it works for you.
Hi, it’s difficult when u first get the diagnosis but the best news is they have found it and it’s treatable. Hopefully the side effects of medication will not effect u for long. Everything u describe about your lifestyle seems spot on. I am Irish but have lived in London for 44 years, my family have a strong history of hypertension. We were all diagnosed in our middle 40s, I am now 64 and have lived an active healthy life with medication. I am so grateful for it. I cycle, brisk walk, do Pilates weekly. Retired now and loving the freedom. All my siblings are in there late 70s & my brother who is 87 plays golf x3 times a week. So not all bad. I wish u good health & happiness.
You are being overly optimistic re your vaccination in my humble opinion. But to continue....I too was taking Amlodipine, 5 mgs plus lisinoprill, 40 mgs.Now after a few years I got serious about my desire to lessen or maybe get rid of the meds. This summer I lost 10 lbs, exercised more, and have now been off the Amlodipine and Lisinopril has been halved. I take my bp readings about every other day and am usually below 117/80. This motivates me. I also have been taking many supplements for a long time. I hooe this helps you. For what it's worth I am 76 years old.
Please don't think I have anything to do with FOX. I do not and never have. In fact I have quit watching tv and FB media as of at least 4 months ago.Now I read the news and am constantly searching for the truth.
I am a believer of FLCCC.net for anything having to do with COVD19.
