I’m on 5 mg rampiril a day and have lost 4 stone since being told my bp too high - this seems to be doing the trick as my bp now normally less than 130/90 and lower
I am now mildly panicking about my kidneys - I will need to book in a blood test but does anyone have a personal experience of kidney improvement when bp drops ? Or any input at all - im not sure if having had high bp definitely means my kidneys will be less effective or I may get lucky?

it would be a normal thing to have a blood test after diagnosis of hypertension. Your medical team will then have a baseline to work from.
Just because there’s a blood test doesn’t mean there is anything wrong. Having high blood pressure can, indeed, have a bad effect on your kidney function - so you’ve done the right thing.
Hi, I had very high bp and was worried about my kidneys as urine sample showed blood and protein in sample. This went on for a while ,until I was diagnosed with Conns disease and treated on spironolactone. I've had a ct scan and my kidneys are normal ,urine sample is clear and has been for a while now BP is down. But I have other problems, mainly poor digestion. A result of the low potassium I guess.God luck!
