High blood pressure in 30s no health issues? After pregnancy

I've had high blood pressure since the end of my pregnancy my baby is 9 months almost. I came off tablets as my BP had improved but now I'm currently under review with the gp as it is borderline. I'm late doing the review. The last discussion was me improving my diet and exercising, thankfully the gp understood how impossible that is with a baby! Very standard advice. It's been too cold and icy to even go for a walk and it's been tricky to get out between naps and meals atm.

I'm wondering how common high BP is in your early 30s if you're not overweight etc (I could be slightly overweight I'm not sure as I don't know what's weight and what's my body changed since having a baby). I do wonder if my anxiety is a factor but again can't do the things I need to help it but it's not extreme anxiety. It is just random how my blood pressure is suddenly going high.

Not sure if anyone has any thing to say about this. Gp phone appointments are not as easy to talk as face to face.

I am not medically trained, but after 15 years of careful study of chronic disease, I can say couple of words about what you are interested in. Pregnancy and birth are known to pretty much disturb mother's body. But, this disturbance is usually temporary. Some women develop diabetes 2, which goes away after the birth. Some develop depression after the birth, which also goes away. The same could be the case with increased BP. So, in your place, I would let the things settle, to see if this problem is of lasting nature. It may be that it simply goes away.

Two years ago, I had a blow in the open eye (an accident). My wife urged me to go to a hospital, to get medical intervention, but I refused. My approach was to not hurry and let someone intervene on my eye, just to be cooperative and undertake something. I said, I will wait to see what the real consequences are. Then, I will let them cure it, if at all possible. I gambled and won! After 2 years, my eye is almost back to normal, without any intervention,

BP is something I also gamble with - I am 70, 5 years ago I was given the meds for high BP, but I do not take them at all. The tablets were prescribed after only one measurement of 190/120. I usually measure 150/100 and feel perfectly well with it. Very keen to know what happens further, lol!

Never let the MDs frighten you, since it may happen that you take the jab, that you will later regret about, lol!

I will add to what Nestor says - through I don’t totally agree with all of it! Whatever your blood pressure, or your weight, you need to take care of yourself so that you care for your baby. By this I mean, amongst other things, a good diet - plenty of fresh veg and so on. Keep your salt low.

It’s very hard to exercise in this weather so I’ve a suggestion. When your child is thinking of dropping off, carry the baby around the house in your arms - that’s good exercise - and continue whilst the baby is asleep. I’m sure it will do you good, and the baby too.

You might want to give the relevant charity a ring - they are Blood Pressure UK - and they might have something useful to say about your own particular circumstances.

Not what you're looking for?
