what was your bp before you were put on pills, you have to ween off them slowely. a week on half then every other day then every 2 days , do the half for at least a week.

Gibney, I’m astonished that the doc didn’t start you on the “natural” route before he or she put you on pills. That’s the way to go, if it works!

If your bp is 130 ish that’s really good (at least I’m assuming you’re over 40!]

But the device is not to stop pills without checking with your go first.

Assuming you in the UK, why not contact the special charity Blood Pressure UK? They have a helpline and lots of information

thats bad of your doc, you dont go on bp pills when bp normal, saying that doc put me on statins said i had high collesterol, ended up in hospital, doctors said i did not and the statins made me ill, they get paid to put you on this crap, when u get home get your bp checked if its ok go the docs and tell him something, you might get struck off lol. i told one what i thought of him and reported him, he got the sack as a few after me reported him, they are not god, some think they are,

at 130/90 there is nothing to do its perfect ,if you poorly must be something else, how old are you,ive never had natural bp below 140/90 ever nearer 170/90 for 20 odd years goes up/down on amlodipine 165/90 2 years ago no idea now i dont do it so i dont worry .for me its 100 plus age and below 100 im fine with that.

im with my husband and our 2 friends. I feel a little better tonight. On full tablets at home i felt a bit off for a few hours but managed to get through the day. I just want of these meds altogether and read your posts which gave me a bit of hope. Ifvi still feel as bad tomorrow I think I will see a doc here because Im not eating and thats not good and prob why im feeling faint.

try half a baby aspirin, that might do the trick,if there was one drug you had to take and stuck on a desert island it would ne aspirin the wonderdrug, yes got to eat but not that local food lol have some good english food, could even be the heat, even half a bp pill made me feel like i had sickness/diarea without the symtoms, like death warmed up and walking on a mattress best way i can describe it,

Hi! Here a guess, but worth trying... Most of BP drugs reduce BP by slowing the heart somewhat down. It causes poorer blood circulation, what causes you to feel like "death warmed up", as Peter said. Measure your HR and if your heart is beating in 40-ties or maybe 30-ties, than that's the cause. Some people, with normal resting HR at the level of 70+, feel poorly even at the puls of 50+. If you find out that your HR is low, maybe with the HR going from time to time in 100+ (for couple of seconds...), than the quickest and the cheapest help is the coffee, with coffeine, "normal coffee".

Test it carefully, and if there is an improvement, find the ammount that suits you. I believe that 3 coffees a day should be sufficient, but keep an eye on how you feel. I always considered that the coffee is bad for my health, until I realized that it activates the body and helps in many cases. If the result is not positive, nothing easier than to stop it...

All the best!

130/90 is absolutely fine at your age and weight profile, I woukd certainly plan to wean yoursef off the meds with a pill cutter or take them every other day, do keep up the exercise and weight loss and very good luck.

Hi, I had very bad side effects from amlodipine and I was desperate to get off them. I talked to my GP about it and that I intend to try and reduce my bp naturally by healthy eating and excersice. He was sceptical but did not discourage me, he suggested I keep taking the meds until I see results of my efforts. So I bought a home blood pressure machine so that I can assess progress. I did not continue to take the pills everyday, took a tablet every other day for a week then 1/2 a tablet every other day for a week and then stopped,I did not have any problems. I cleaned my diet and exercised, I did this religiously and I was beginning to see results with my blood pressure. I have continued with my new lifestyle to this day and I have been off meds for well over a year.My GP was astounded! So my advice is talk to your GP and continue with what you are doing to loose weight and exercise, also check Blood pressure Uk website for advice . You can manage your blood pressure naturally without meds that cause all these horrible side effects. Your blood pressure was not that high anyway. Sorry for a long post , I was trying to tell you my story so that you can see that it can be done .

Good luck

you should never have been placed on medication if the tablets are only to control blood pressure as it is not high enough to justify it.

What ranges does your BP fluctuate between and which tablets are you on?

A friend of mine of a similar age to you had an average BP of 142 / 89 and was told to exercise and ensure that he drank enough water, to maintain this and was not prescribed medication just to watch in case it did not get higher although you may have other mitigation reasons.

I would not do anything without your drs advice but would suggest asking to see another Dr at the same practise after taking three readings both morning and night for a week, this then gives your GP something to work with. Side effects are sometimes worse than the initial problem
