as the title, ii seems when you are told it anxiety goes up, then all the side effects of pills, wife just informed me there is a recall of amlodipne no idea yet why, would you have led a better carefree life not knowing it and hopefully living just as long and healthy, who knows, when u are told you have a choice do nothing or take pills etc but then its always on your mind, i wish i was never told as upto 70 never bothered then wasted a year of my life feeling ill, worried on every bp pill they could try.now i do it naturally and so what if it goes a bit high now and then, im fitter and feel better off them.is it mostly anxiety that raises it.

Hi there, from what I understand about the recall on amolodipine and another one is in the US The recall was on a batch of almost 4000.

However, a UK-specific batch recall hasn’t been announced. I hope this puts your mind at rest for those who are taking these meds. I myself take amolodipine.

High BP for many can shorten a persons life. It is not called the silent killer for nothing im afraid. I for one am very glad it was detected.

Unfortunately for many healthy eating and exercise does not work for everyone. Some do need to take medication and I would never put people off from doing so. Even though I have also struggled with taking BP meds it can be a life saver for many. Just my personal opinion xx

now how do we no it will shorten our lives, no one knows if u will wake up in morning, we have not got a ticket for a long life lol. i did not ask the question about pills it was did you feel well before they told you your bp was high, mine was always high i think all my life at 60 it was 160/90 perfect at the time, they keep lowering the numbers,as you age it goes up,i need blood to my head at 73, i think if you feel well you are ok.i was in hospital once, bp 180/90 no problem they said ,see how it goes, it was a virus, now how meny eat the foods to bring bp down or do the correct anount of walking day after day no let up,meditate every day its a great life free of pills, worth a try.

You need to do what feels right for you. And that is the same for everyone else. No one size fits all I'm afraid. I am not medically qualified so I am always happy to listen to those who are.

if you had lets say a headache and u took a pill headache went but awful side effects would you take the pill again. i find the side effects worse than the symtoms, you try another and so on but they all make life intorable who wants a life like that, now if the side effects are not bad thats ok but reading on here, dizzy, feeling sick, anxiety etc is it worth it on the off chance you might have heart atack/stroke which you might have had or not anyway, i chose life but its up to yourself how you can handle life, always the natural way even extra virgin olive oil a tablespoon 3 times a day helps, theres loads of things with no side effects but most scarred to try .

I absolutely agree with both your replies, I have never been overweight but developed High B/P in my late 40’s as my siblings have done. I am very grateful to have the medication and the access to medical follow up. I have remained well & had a good career plus an active healthy life. Medication is a must for most people.

I've been on amlodipine, ramipril and propranolol for three years now and since my bp was 244/133 when admitted for emergency care three years ago I probably would have been dead by now without them. By the way I did the diet thing, lost five and a half stone and halved the dose but wouldn't be without the meds even if I did have side effects initially. I didn't have a choice and had to push through.Thing is some people have mild hypertension and dietary changes exercise etc. may be enough for them but for others the meds are lifesavers!!

hi but did you keep it up when you lost the weight and exercised everyday, its like taking a pill you have to do it forever,a lot lose weight etc, diet.exercise but go back to old ways so therefore bp goes back, its hard though, mine was 240/120 at hospital, it went down to 180/90 said thats fine you wont have heart attack or stroke , went home thats when doc put me on bp pills, worst year of my life lol, it was no life,

I absolutely didn't go back to my old ways! My weight has stayed at the very healthy level it was once I had lost the weight and I have maintained my exercise level too. I'm a very determined person and stick to something once I set my mind to it. I should say that having undiagnosed and untreated high bp for a while has given me a mild form of left ventricular hypertrophy, a thickening of the ventricle wall which increases my risk of heart attack, stroke and cardiac arrest. At 54 that was not good news and I followed all medical advice which is to look to my diet, exercise and to take meds to lower my bp to sensible levels. This advice was given by a cardiologist so, safe to say, I listened. The first months of taking meds were difficult and I struggled but, like I said, I'm determined so I kept on and I'm glad I did.

U have decided to take a different route to most of us on here and that is perfectly acceptable. I think u need to appreciate not everyone can take that approach. I’m pleased it works for u.

i do, i think it scares most people ,it did me to take pills but the side effects for me were unbearable,if they had not been i would have condinute taking them for a while but i would have tried other ways i think as well, i had no choice i was on the verge of of leaving this world due to the pills,so i had nothing to lose,

Has many have commented. How you treat your BP is your personal choice. It doesnt mean its the correct or safe way for everyone.

i know but it worked for me, no more pills, side effects i had no choice, i was lucky i had the time to reduce the pills slowely while exercising ie walking 3 miles 3 times a day out at 7 in morn ,rain, sun, snow i set my mind to get better, it was hard going in the dark mornings lol.i still do it 7 days a week, the olive leaf extract i take lowers bp pressure combined with taking turmeric etc with no side effects works better than any pill i was on.the side efects of the amlodipine etc still effects my sleep some nights, but not as bad as before im up at 4 now not up all night with no sleep for 12 months which was torture.
