Losartan 50mg

Hi all, changed from ramipril to losartan four weeks ago because of cough. Now feeling like my sinuses are blocked, ears hurt and have sore throat. No infection according to the practice nurse, through doing a throat swab, has anyone had these symptoms?

Oh yes, a few times. Several years ago, sinusitis, sore throats and chest infections three times in three months with three courses of strong antibiotics. Then I discovered it was the Losartan and stopped taking them - problem solved. That said, they don't affect everyone like that and your side effects may yet settle down as there are many people who get on well with them, so give it a while longer. Good luck.

Thanks for replying. My throat swab was negative so no antibiotics but I'm glad I'm not the only one with these symptoms, if you see what I mean lol. I'll try a bit longer but I think a change of meds is on the cards. Thanks again.

I am also on Losarten +Amlodipine. At present I have a swollen throat and upset stomach have cut my dosage from 50mg on Losarten to 25 and to 5mg on Amlodipine . Still waiting to see what happens. As people say all medicines have side effects.

Hi definitely go back to your GP, these are the side effect of Ramipril especially if you had sinus problem before

after trying many blood pressure tablets ,I went back to amlodipine as it was the only one to reduce my blood pressure , I only take half of the5mg tablet [ I have not told the doctor , ] and to my surprise it works really well without any awful wide effects .

The sinus comments on ramipril were interesting. I have found this a nuisance but get relief with Jakemans menthol sweets which I now always have in my pockets.
