Severe hypertension

Hi, My cousin has had Severe hypertension ( BP between 180 and 225 / 100) for over a year. He weighs almost 40 stone. Also has type 2 diabetes and kidney damage 3b. He’s lost sight in one eye and had lymphodema. Lives alone, age 45. Not interested in changing lifestyle and now gets extremely breathless walking only 20 metres or so, so barely leaving the house. He’s given up.

It’s a long shot, but any advice? He does take his meds.

Thank you.

The thing is, Cheeselover71, blood pressure is something that’s controlled by the individual sufferer. Weight loss, exercise and good diet.If you point your cousin towards the website of Blood Pressure UK there’s loads of helpful information. But he’s got to do it himself, no one else can do it for him unless it’s at gunpoint,

Hi Cheeselover. Ditto what Happyrosie said. To be helped, he has to at least try to help himself. Being overweight can cause kidney damage and hypertension, so has he sought help with his diet?
