Uncontrollable high blood pressure

Not many people talk about it , but I have uncomfortable high BP. I am on 3 different meds and it's still high and won't come down. Last year I wasn't allowed to fly as It was unsafe. I am so exhausted with it. I am now suffering with depression and feel like it has made life unbearable. I am on 54 and have been on meds for 10 years now. They can't find any reason for it.

Anyone got any advice on natural ways .... I would really really appreciate it

Thanks

Hi Tabetha. Have you tried contacting bloodpressureuk.org? If not, it may be worth giving them a ring to ask advice, their helpline number is 020 7882 6218. Good luck.

I can only offer my experiences with high BP: mine didn't come down until I committed all out war on it: NO caffeine and alcohol at all, an excellent diet and plenty of exercise. In addition I found that both dark chocolate and herbal teas either raise my BP and/or block the meds for whatever reason.

I do wish you well.

I've had high BP since around 1992. I've had all different meds over that time. I ended up on ramipril and amlodipine this combination worked well. I took early retirement in 2022. My bp very slowly came down. Then out of the blue I started with very sensitive digestive issues. I read online amlodipine can cause this. So I took myself of it slowly. My bp has never been as good. My gp has agreed I can come off amlodipine. On average my bp is 130/75 which is fantastic for me. I'm now convinced working life disagreed with my bp levels. Also I exercise a lot more now I think that to has an effect on the level. I use to do daily yoga i believe that alone helped. I now do more cardio exercise. Still practicing yoga once or twice a week. I believe this is different for everyone. Have you tried yoga

Hi, I am thinking you might have Conns disease? Also called Primary Aldosteronism. You have the symptoms. What is your potassium level like?Ask your GP to test you for it, this happened to me and I was left years with no explanation why my BP was so high. Good Luck!!

Same here. I've had high bp for about 4 years now. Had mri, ecg's etc but no known cause for it. The only med I could tolerate is Lercanidipine although I still get calf muscle cramps woth those. My cholesterol is 6 but, I refuse to take statins as this will only increase side effects even more. I'm planning to see my GP to properly investigate what is causing it. It doesn't make sense giving meds out when you don't know the cause of an illness.

Yes, that's absolutely correct. I think sometimes Dr's can't be bothered to investigate the cause of high bp and easily dismiss it as 1 of those things!I was presenting with very high bp,unexplained low potassium levels, muscle cramps and weakness, excessive thirst and heart palpitations, yet still I was dismissed as an anxious patient!!!!

That made me so angry,as I felt no one was taking me seriously .

In the end ,a gastroenterologist made the connection to Conns syndrome as I was referred for persitent bloating. No wonder ,my potassium was dangerously low by this time!

I almost died with a dangerous heart rhythm and had to be infused with intra venous potassium on a ward overnight.

My Quality of life is very poor now,

I have such little energy.

It's made me very mistrustfull of Dr's.
