Hi I’ve had raised BP since my last child was born in 1993. Ive been taking 25mg of Atenenol since then but a couple of years ago my BP raised and I was given 10mg Ramapril which helped lower it but due to a family 2 year stressful situation my BP went up again to regularily reading 155/105 and I was given 5mg Amlodopine. My BP for the last year reads 125/88 on a morning and then 117/77 after taking all 3 medication. My concern is taking 3 different types of medication and the effects from it. I don’t have any side effects and I am going to ask my GP about maybe coming off at least one of them but wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this.

Almost exactly the same meds my husband was on! He went to the pharmacist and asked for a medicine review, which is available from pharmacists in the UK, because I thought his BP was too low.

Pharmacist recommended to doctor that the doctor should think about removing one of the meds, which he did. Husbands BP now around 130/90 at age 78.Have you read Blood Pressure UK website? This gives you all sorts of information and tips. When you’ve absorbed it, and you’re sure about your lifestyle and diet, you can go back to the GP armed with the your information and suggestions.
