When did you stop the Amlodipine? He has maybe taken you off for now for a while to see if your skin stops itching and if it does, he will know that it was probably the Amlodipine. Maybe then he will put you on something different which doesn't have that as a side effect. However, if your skin is still itching, it may be a sign that the Amlodipine may not have been the cause. How long were you taking them? I ask that because of the length of time he has left it for you to see him. That may be due to the length of time the Amlodipine takes to leave your system. x
Yes, as Soringcross suggested, the GP is probably giving you a medication holiday until your side effects resolve before embarking on another medication - exactly what my consultant did when Amlodipine orived intolerable. Try not to worry about your blood pressure meanwhile as the stress of doing so will not help.
I had cellulitis when I first took amlodipine.I was taking ramipril too so they said it could be either and sent me on my way with a prescription for heavy duty antibiotics.Still taking them but interesting hearing your experiences.Sounds like your GP is taking a cautious and sensible approach.
