So sorry to hear about your recent experience, Yvonne. However, your question is difficult to answer in that whilst there are some people who experience side effects from any particular high blood pressure medication, there will be many who don’t have any problems at all. It is wise to follow your GP’s advice to keep you safe and, should you have any problems at all, your GP can switch you to another pill - there are many! I do hope you soon feel well and strong again,

You’re welcome, Yvonne. I am also one of those whose body refuses to tolerate loads of BP meds. There are a few that are tolerated but even then my BP remains stubbornly resistant. My hubby on the other hand doesn’t have any problems with them. So I do both sympathise and empathise with how you feel.

I was put on blood pressure meds and didn’t tolerate amoldapine at all. They then tried another and my blood pressure went up so they increased the tablet. Blood pressure went up🙄. The hospital told me to talk to my gp and he arranged a 24 hour blood pressure monitor to be attached to me. After all that didn’t need meds at all as didn’t have blood pressure problems. Please, please talk to your dr

On first diagnosis i was put on amlodipine which gave me swelling ankles and tiredness and this was swiftly replaced with candesarten and two others which i have been on with no problems for the last 15 yrs and has steadied my readings. Everyone is different, my son did not get on with candesarten. Hope you feel better soon
