Diastolic over 200 consistently

My wife's diastolic pressure has been over 200 consistently over the past week. She has had some very odd pressures like 214/210 the highest being 276/250! She was admitted to a local hospital where a slew of tests were done. She takes 8 pressure pills each day and still has control problems. Anyone else have diastolic pressures this high

Hbp, for me it’s mostly my systolic pressure that is at a similar height to that of your wife. My body is not responding to medication either apart from reacting badly by way of side effects - all of the downsides and none of the benefits. My consultant said that I’m in 1% of the population so affected and that he hasn’t got anyone else like me! My sole reduced kidney function may be the root of the problem, and I do hope they can soon come up with the reason for your wife’s situation. Good luck!

Like others on this I have high BP and it's often 226/125 but been on 7 tablets since last November and it's still not settled down. I'm trying to get back to work bit by bit but can't when it spikes. My GP is not great with knowledge of BP and heart issues. There's very little that can be added in meds as on top doses. No reason has been given as to spikes in BP by either go or hospital. The most helpful for me was cardiac nurse on the BHF website via this website. .. give them a call they are marvellous seriously!!!
