How quickly do blood pressure meds work?

I just finished dinner and decided to take my bp reading. I normally take my blood pressure meds right after dinner. I took my reading before I took my meds and it was very high for me at 156 /89. I'm usually low 100/70's . I took my bp medicine which is Lisinopril and took my bp again less than five minutes later. It dropped to 117 over 87. Could my medication work that quickly?

Hi there

I wouldn’t think they work that quick I usually leave an hour before I take mine after my BP tablet. But BP can change minute by minute. I don’t think you get a proper reading straight after a meal anyway.

My Lisinopril matter was different. They increased my dosage from 10mg to 20Mg because my BP was increasing. It did not work / lower my BP..

So they put me back on 10Mg Lisinopril and 1mg of Doxazosin and this keeps me within range. Hope this some help to somebody on Lisinopril.
