Fantastic I had mine first one this morning - the website cancelled my second vaccine so that’s a bit confusing

That's great news. I phoned today to make my appointment but with being on a five day course of steroids I have to phone my GP tomorrow and ask if it's safe to have it. I'm hoping so I couldn't have the appointment last time. Have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

Good to hear that your husband has his two appointment dates.

I live in London and am classified as clinically extremely vulnerable and was shielding BUT had my first vaccine at the end of January having to stand in the cold in a queue even though I had an appointment and was supposed to be shielding.

I have been told that the NHS will contact me ???? when my second injection is due - in 3 months time.

Considering it was my GP Practice that texted me initially and I had to ring the surgery so that they could make my first appointment - not to attend surgery but a hub in Croydon. Shielding didn't seem to count for anything.

However days later (a day AFTER having my first vaccination) I got a letter from the NHS telling me to go onto their website to make BOTH appointments.

Fingers crossed I hear from the NHS in 3 months time because no one has told anyone where to contact if the 2nd. appointment doesn't happen.

Take care and keep safe

I was lucky I walked into a marquee which then guided into surgery temperature took and went into a room details took jab done out through the door to another marquee to wait 15 mins. Then helper came into say we could go it was so well laid out and friendly. No standing in the cold.

What a lovely experience.

My temperature was not taken. We all queued up. Went into one door which led into a Hall. Given a form, clipboard and biro and asked to fill it out. Filled it out and gave pen and clipboard back to lady who pointed to where I was to stand with my completed form- floor all marked out for social distancing. Someone took my completed form and told me to wait. I was called about 2 minutes later and led into another hall (It was actually two halls attached to one another) given my jab in one of the sectioned out cubicles - there were about 4 of them - told to sit down for 15 minutes - there were about 8 chairs opposite the "JAB STATIONS" and then go home.

I did get a sticky badge stuck on my cardigan saying "I have had my Covid jab". Unfortunately there was no Smartie to go with it.

It seems to me that there is a very marked difference in the surroundings as to where these vaccinations are done according to where you live.

I seems to me that England is better organized at getting the people vaccinated.

I live in the states and it's a mess. Vaccines are handed out to each state. Seems the state that I live in is getting shorted on vaccines doses. You can spend hours online to different sites to try to set up an appointment (with the chance that when the time comes, they would be out of stock) with no luck.

Also, the state that I live in, the governor said that now wearing a mask is optional and bars can be open (with only 8% of the population vaccinated). I can't help but think, who's pocket is she in.

What a mess, Beth

Sorry to hear you are having such difficulty in getting vaccinated Beth. Is there an emergency number you can ring to help you, In England we can telephone 119 for help if needed. Haven't had to do this myself so can't vouch for their reliability or common sense.

Are your Pharmacies vaccinating the population yet? As far as I know we haven't started this yet but I understand from "talk" that this "could happen".

I think you would be wise to keep wearing your mask and social distancing until the 8% that have been vaccinated becomes at least 90% or more.

Hope you are successful very soon

Take care and keep very very safe

Forgot to mention I had the Pfizer vaccination and I didn't have any side effects really I only had a "heavy arm" for a day but I did feel tired - not sleepy tired but weary tired. Other than that I felt fine.

The vaccines are available at certain pharmacies, but they fill up fast, as same as every other place. A person has only 10 minutes or less to sign up, when it's open for appointments, so you have to be on the computer a lot.

I'm still wearing a mask and social distancing, like you said, until over 90% is vaccinated. Beth

I really hope you are able to get vaccinated soon Beth.

It sounds quite complicated in your country. Why I wonder are your Government not helping with this vaccine roll out. Obviously help is needed.

Are you in a "tier" system. I am Group 4 …. Over 70's and/or clinically extremely vulnerable or is it just a case of getting vaccinated as and where you can.

Beth1949 in reply to Bardear

I agree, but it seems that when the government gets involved, things get really messed up. There is more to politics than what's good for the country.

I'm in the current tier group. Every governor of each state has the power to pass laws that govern their state. I'm in the second tier group, there are still people in the first tier that haven't been vaccinated. And I don't doubt that she will add tier 3 as well soon. So not only am I up against people in tier 1 and 2, soon it will include tier 3.

Our new president is doing the best he can, but with such a high volume of people in this country, it like trying to empty the ocean, one teaspoon at a time.

Thanks for letting me vent, Beth

Bardear in reply to Beth1949

Not a problem.

Your country's politics seem to be as crazy as ours. Don't make any sense but then we the people are not expected to understand them are we?

Your new President Biden has a lot to deal with and I wish him all the luck in the world.

Our Boris didn't have a good start really through no fault of his own …. what with Covid AND Brexit ….Hurrah to the latter one. At last the will of the people has finally been carried out. It's going to be tough for a few years and we know it will but we have our country back and are no longer "sheep".

I would be interested to hear when you get your vaccination. Please try not to let it get to you too much …. difficult I know.

Take care Beth

Keep safe

If you want to vent at any time …. just vent me if you like.
