I have been told to get my pneumonia jab , i’m not worried about sore arm, but i’m just a bit concerned i might feel poorly after. I didn’t feel poorly after my flu jab or covid booster.
Any reassurance would be appreciated. Thank you.

I haven't had any reaction to the pneumonia vacc.
Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.
Hi. I didn't have any issues with my first pneumococcal injection, was neither up nor down. However on Monday I had a second pneumococcal along with the shingles vaccine (over 50 and immunocompromised) and it was a whole different story, I'm only just out of my bed today. I do honestly think it was due to having both vaccines together as the only other time I've had a reaction like this was when I had both the flu and covid vaccines together. Although I haven't reacted well recently, the benefits of the vaccines outweigh the few days of feeling yuck so I would definitely recommend you having it 🌹
Thank you for replying. Yes, i didn’t have any of my vaccinations together, just one at a time, so i think maybe it could make you feel rough for few days if you do have more than one at same time.
As you say, the benefits are so much more having them because none of us want bad flu or pneumonia etc.
I was fine on pneumococcal jab. Done on its own. The shingles I found the worst one of all. However the second shingles jab was ok, just 24 hours tired. x
Thanks for informing me about the second dose as I'm dreading it. I was informed that I would get it around April and that they would probably give me the Covid vaccine at the same time but after how I've felt, I will definitely take them on separate occasions 🌹
have only ever had 1 pneumonia jab about 10 years ago, is the new regeme to give two?
Hi. I actually had the same discussion on this forum late last year when I commented that I was due my second jab. Some folk were adamant that I had got it wrong even though I explained why I was getting it. My GP practice advised me that I was due a second dose due to the fact I'm immunocompromised. I was due last November but due to covid vaccines being given, the vaccination team postponed it until now. I don't know how it works in England but in Scotland the GP practices no longer deal with vaccinations it's centralised to health board vaccination teams. If you're immunocompromised I would contact your practice to enquire🌹
I had one a few years ago and absolutely no problems at all. Its only a tiny pinprick in your arm the same as other jabs so go for it.
I recall having a sore arm but no worse than the flu jab. Was 10 years ago after having had pneumonia 5 times in under 2 years. I'm left with scarring from those pneumonia but arm is fine! Might have been feverish the next day but my goodness so worth it . If you're that worried arrange to have the vaccination on Friday so you can rest up @ weekend. Good luck. P
I was ok on mine. Good luck.
Hi Collie4 I had my pneumonia jab last year. I had no reaction and was fine.🦋
I had one and didn't have any problems afterwards thankfully!
Had mine 2 years ago had slightly sore arm no other reactions
I recently had mine. Bit of a sore arm. Nothing bad. That was it.
I've had numerous courses with no ill effects x
Pete was fine with his pneumonia jab Collie as was l. Xxx👍
I’m vaxxed to the eyeballs 😆I’ve had 8 Covid ones, yearly flu, two pneumonia and the shingles. No problem with any of them except the very first (AZ) Covid one, which I think lots of people reacted to (worth it though, imo). One consolation is that if you do feel a bit rough it’s a sign your immune system is responding strongly to the vaccine.
I have had two different vaccines for pneumonia and didn’t have a reaction to either one. Good luck.
to be fair I would still have it even if I was ill as the long term benefit outweighs a short illness I had it & was fine but everyone is different
I believe in honesty. I did get a bit of a sore arm following the pneumonia jab However I thought a little bit of discomfort was far better than pneumonia. Christmas 2016 found me in hospital with pneumonia it nearly killed me and it took me many months of rehabilitation to recover. My thinking is better a little bit of discomfort than the potential devastation that pneumonia can bring.
you could 'google' the ingrediants in th evax to see what it contains ? just a thought.
I was hospitalised for 10 days with pneumonia, after it caused me to collapse so I had the vaccine and would have a second dose if recommended, I would rather have a sore arm than end up back in hospital
I had no problems with the pneumonia jab. Better than the alternative.
Not even a sore arm with the pneumonia jab. The first shingles jab did result in sore arm, but other than that was generally fine. Second shingles jab, a doddle!
Glad you had no probs. I’m sure i will be fine. The benefits of being vaccinated are better than having the illness obviously.
I'm sure you will be fine Collie4; its stating the obvious but I always relax my arm in preparation for the jab - never tighten up! What makes me laugh is the nurse practitioner telling me "you'll just feel a little scratch". Surely it is a prick!
My wife had her pneumonia jab this year without anyy problems at all. As we get older we get used to being like a pincushion from time to time. Have a good day, Chris.
sorry haven’t had any.
I had mine its only a one off you don't ever need another apparently and I had no side effects at all don't worry
never had a moments thought about it. If you trust the NHS then you believe they are doing right by you. Which would leave you worst off a pneumonia jab or none? They’ve kept me free of such illnesses for a long time now and I’m thankful for missing such experiences in life!
Hi Collie 4 I have had mine when ever it has been due and have never had any reaction what so ever from it. I would think you will be fine.
had zero after effects from mine - although I did from flu jab
It was the worst nightmare - extreme pain in hand with overall malaise.
Hi, I had a pnuemonia jab last year and had no after effects at all. The nurse said I wouldn't and she was right. It is well worth having and I was told you only need the one.
I was also told that I only needed one pneumonia vaccination and had no discomfort or side effects, thank goodness. I cannot remember what was said about shingles, which I dread, but have only been offered one jab. At first a jab wasn't offered as it is a live virus and being on immune suppressants it wasn't advisable. However this seems to have been revised . I would much rather have some discomfort for a short time than risk either disease.
I do sympathise when conflicting reports make it difficult to decide for the best. Good luck and keep well.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is so important to have these vaccinations. I have made my appointment for the pneumonia one. I’ve not had any problems with flu jabs or covid boosters.
