Pneumonia Vaccine for the Immunosuppressed

Good afternoon everyone,

I had my pneumonia vaccine many years ago, then 5 years ago before I was placed on the lung transplant list I received a further Pneumonia Vaccine which was 2017. If I recall, I remember someone telling me that if you are Immunosuppressed you should receive a Pneumonia Vaccine every 5 Years.

Has anyone else who is Immunosuppressed experienced this and had others after 5 years?

Thanking everyone in advance.

I’m not sure about the five years Joseph but Pete has definitely had more than one pneumonia jab. I’ve just asked him and he says he’s had three. No idea how far apart though. You take care xxx

Hi. I'm due to have my second one in December. There's been a lot of debate about this previously with some folk.stating it's one injection only. I was informed from my GP practice that I was due again since I was immunosuppressed 🌹

When I had mine, the doctor said just one , but since then I have heard that it should be every five years. I am going to the doctor on Wednesday and that will be one of the questions I ask. I will let you know what is said.

I will be asking also why only the over 65s are eligible for a shingles jab!

Have a lovely evening :) xx

I was told the same.

Re the shingles jab, I believe it’s now (very recently) all over 50’s who are immunocompromised that are also entitled.

Well, she said just the single shot necessary 🤷‍♀️ but I will ask every doctor I see!!

Had my steroid shot, and she said yes definitely I am eligible for a shingles vaccine, but to do it at a different time. So yes over 50s who are immunosuppressed! Thank you xx
