Re access to buses and trains

I am vulnerable and thankfully, I have had my two Pfizer vaccines.

The first one offered 80% protection and the second one possibly 90% protection.

With this in mind can I now go on buses and trains if I take the appropriate precautions?

If not, why not?

As far as I understand it, I think it takes 3 weeks for it to be fully working in you and also they don’t know yet if you can still pass the virus on to others despite being covered yourself. So unless it’s essential I wouldn’t go out yet.

I checked on Government site. It takes up to two weeks after second vaccination to get the stated protection. However no vaccine completely protects us so you so you need to continue with precautions. Go online and check the information there. It answers your question and others.

We are in lockdown. The rules say only essential travel is allowed, vaccinated or not.

Sorry if that was a disappointment to you but I am glad that you have been able to have both doses of the vaccine when many have had their second dose delayed.

Its wonderful that you've had your 2 vaccinations! Unfortunately the reasons you cannot travel by bus or train are that :

One, we're all on lock down so we can only go out for exercise and/or essentials like food.

Two, it will take two or three weeks for the vaccinations to take effect. Like the flu jab protection isn't instant.

Perhaps your food shop is a bus ride away?

Don't forget, even though you've had the jabs you can still pick up this deadly virus and pass it on and possibly be responsible for the deaths of people.

No. There is a lockdown that applies to everyone, vaccinated or not.

They haven't made it clear that while the vaccine helps your body to fight the virus i if you get it you are still carrying the virus and can pass it on to others . So carry on with all the precautions

My stepson reckons that if we were told that then many people wouldn't bother but I do think the government are holding back info that should be shared , they are very devious when being asked anything on the radio. It doesn't give me much confidence. I am used to being given information and reasons and definitely react better when I understand .

I had the first one now have to wait 3 months for the second I asked the nurse when I got mine he said stay shielding till 2 weeks after the second dose. The vaccine won’t stop you getting COVID it prevents you getting it too severely

I am 82 years old with Bronchiectasis. Still awaiting my first dose of vaccine. Such is the roll out. Do not even think of any normality until well into 2021, vaccinated or not The virus will be with us for most of this a year and perhaps for years to come in some form or another. This is being realistic rather than pessimistic. This virus is a 'game changer' in more ways than one.
