Hi hope everyone is doing ok

Just wonderd if anyone else has experienced cancelled appointments in Respiratory clinic to see consultants I was due to go in March but obviously cancelled due to the virus then April's was cancelled gave me one for May cancelled they have just sent me a cancellation notice for my June appointment and have now said they will get in touch at a later date .Now I do understand that the virus is still causing concern and disruption but I can't even get to see my local Doctor unless I'm dying

My two appointments have been cancelled with no alternative dates given. Not surprised considering the pressure respiratory medics are under. Take care I’m sure all will come good in the end.

If you have a specific concern call your consultant and ask for a phone consultation much safer than travelling to a hospital

We've tried that spoken to his secretary but she said she will look into it but he's not able to do ring backs at the moment probably too busy

Just about everybody has recieved cancellations for respiratory appts, they will be the last hospital dept to open up again due to the pressure they have been under and the high risk to patients undergoing repiratory examinations, frustrating but we have to give them time to both recupperate and reorganise their departments.

Ski's diy bronchoscopy and oxygen assessment clinic.soon to offer home kits for lvrs. :)

I have a PET Scan in a couple of weeks time, the appointment was made on the 4th June so this will not be cancelled. The only instruction, other than the usual no food, sugar, coffee or tea for 12 hours, only water, is not to turn up earlier than 10 mins before the appointment.

The PET Scanner is housed in it's own new, separate small building to the rear of the main hospital building, so probably is a Covid free environment. The follow up appointment is open to question though depending on the results 3 weeks later, by phone if there are no serious concerns and face to face if there is a concern that needs physical examination, blood tests etc.

I have 6 monthly check ups with respiratory consultant every 6months. Due /June. Three days ago they telephoned and organised telephone appointment with consultant. I had the yesterday.

I got the feeling he wanted to do a series of ticks that I’m ok. I have been ill since April 2nd with chest infection/ covid. I have along trail of slow recovery with ups and downs. I did not seem to explain that well. Are you well today?. Yes but three days ago could not walk. I get waves of illness/ recovery. He had none of my recent blood tests which had showed liver possible damage. He did not know the oxygen nurse had been to see me 2 weeks ago.He is very pleasant, but I felt he was inundated and trying to fit me in a ‘ fit and well box.

So I have had my appointment. For me it was disappointing. My gp is good though if I can find my way through the receptionists. Good luck

Sorry to hear that unfortunately I feel a phone appointment is as you say just a check list it's hard enough getting everything said in a face to face but a phone conversation isn't the same typical that they don't have your blood tests that's happened to me and they tried to say I hadn't had them done ..Looks like at the moment we have to soldier on and hope things get better as we won't . Take care thanks for your input hope things work out for you

.That tickled me at the end about the receptionist ours are like the gestapo that's when you can get through .Not like the ones on the GP surgery program who seem to have a sense of humour

My appointment was cancelled with my consultant but he called me to see if I was OK. During my chat with him, I asked how he was and he said he had covid 19 and a few other members of staff caught it also. I'm really glad my appointment was cancelled. He is obviously well now and back to work.

My respiratory nurse came out to see me yesterday and said that the hospitals are trying to open up the clinics now. So I suppose it’s just a matter of waiting our turn. I’m hoping for a quick phone consultation at least as they have turned my oxygen down as this nurse can’t alter my bipap settings.

I had just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and had three appointments for that, plus one ophthalmology appointment, all cancelled. The Welsh health secretary cancelled everything without hesitation. The Bristol hospital cancelled the echocardiogram I was due last month and have heard nothing more about it. However I did spend 24 hours in hospital this week to get a heart problem sorted out. It was so strange as the cardiac ward was half empty, and the hospital itself very quiet as presumably appointments have been cancelled too. You are not alone!

Yep - usually go to opd every 3 months.

My local hospital is concerned as we are in a current 'hot spot'

I am happy to stay away -like you my local GP is unavailable but I do have access to hosp respiratory nurses who are absolutely amazing if I need them

Hope you get sorted.

My cousin had been waiting for a triple heart bypass. It was finally rescheduled for last week. He was in the hospital being made ready for the surgery when there was an emergency and it was called off. ☹️

Hope your cousin gets sorted soon and wishing him a speedy recovery.

I can’t see the point in a respiratory appt by phone. I suppose it’s marginally better than nothing, but the consultant can’t listen to your chest, or check any aspect of lung function, order bloods & sputum tests etc, all of which get done at every one of my appts. And most importantly you can’t discuss problems properly over the phone or agree a plan. Luckily my next appts are in Sept & I’m hoping it’ll be safe for me to go.

I so agree my worries are that before this virus it was stressed to me how important it was that I continue to see my consultant and get all my test bloods ect done on time to help me come to terms with what I've got and so they can monitor any changes and give me the nessesary meds last time I was in was January so was it important or not seems we have like many others have been forgotten now ...... It's ok saying see your Dr my Dr hasn't a clue about ILD he thought it was the same as COPD
